Kody and his feathered friends

Kody and his feathered friends - 04/24/19 02:59 AM

It use to be Kody just loved his chickens. He was always so gentle and all he ever really wanted to do was sniff them. Sometimes he'd stand in the middle of them and they'd all be walking around him.

I've noticed now that Sasha is here that he's changed. Instead of wanting to sniff them he wants to eat the chickens. Now he can't be trusted around the girls, which is fine. He can still watch them through the sliding glass doors. I'm thinking now that there are two pups maybe Kody's prey instinct is stronger??? Not sure. What do you think? Kody will be two in June.

See my post under your "recent wreck"...

A lot of dogs end up "seeking a new home" when they hit 2 yo. That's part of it I think as well as the Sasha thing. And there could be something else - did a chicken give him the stink eye? did a chicken tell him to go away? Humans, imperfect things that they are, might not have caught it. Anyway, I would not be having him watch the chickens through the glass. I would wonder if that wouldn't increase his undesired-by-Rosa interest in them.

Middle, Kody or no other dog in my care will never be rehomed. I just want to be perfectly clear that that is not part of the problem.

My post implied only that 2 yo was a challenging age, not meant as a recommended action...
