NO NO Jean! I will do whatever it takes!

don't have a reason for this bad breathing. there are no signs of heart failure. it's definitely more on exersion...and steps are very very hard on her. of course...i would have alot of steps to go out...so we take a few...rest...

when she's laying down she's much better. she does have trouble getting up...once she's up she can walk around.

she still wags her tail...eats...drinks...is alert...even barks a little.

I have her on a blanket in the living room...usually she insists on being whereever i am...today...she's staying in the living room as opposed to following me in here by the computer. so..it's too much for her....

Mary Ann,

Cheyenne is in the best possible hands and hearts. It's got to be torture to worry about her every breath, but I guess that comes with the territory of this gravely ill dog who you (and your family) brought back to life.

Remember that's really what you did.

She has loved her life since.

That's got to be true.

take it easy,
Mary Jane

Zoomie some really strong healing vibes to Cheyenne. Come on pretty girl, we all want you to be around for a long time yet. I don't think you journey here is complete yet.

Mary Ann I was doing some reading on HW. Did she have any blood tests. Looking for Liver/Kidney damage?? Do you have any X-Rays from when you got her to recently, looking for changes. I can't remember are you giving HW treatment (preventative) to stop the multiplying of the HW.

her x-rays from GA were very bad...so much going on. She has had x-rays here since then...which were greatly improved since the GA x-rays. she again had x-rays at our visit the other day...no change from the previous x-rays taken here (which were about a month ago??) No signs of mets...or fluid to indicate heart failure...or signs of upper respiratory infection.

yes...we are doing heartguard. she was pronounced microfalaria free about a month ago.

no blood work done at last appt. frown

if we hold our own right now...at her next appt I will ask about having blood work done...appt. scheduled for wed.

just got her down the stairs to potty...then we laid in the sun for a while. just had a light lunch...drank water. now resting.

basically...the only thing the x-rays show is the damage done to her heart from heartworm disease.

You are doing a wonderful job! Sometimes things are beyond our control though frown

How is the color in her gums looking? Is it pale at all?

Mary Ann how is her breath or does she always have bad breath. Reason I ask is that Frontline is lets face it a poison, the liver cleanses the body. So in her compromised state it might not take much to get her liver a bit toxed up. It wouldn't hurt her, you might want to try some Milk Thistle on her.

just got off the phone with my vet...he said absolutely not..this is not the frontline (yeh..they probably think I'm a nut right about now) ...dog's bodies don't react like this...

anyway...I asked about a gentle detox..he said she doesn't have it in her to do that.

he wants me to give her an extra dose of diuretic...said I could throw in some Benadryl if I want...........

I asked if she could maybe pull through this...he never answered me...said see how she does the next 24 hrs.

Ironically..I got my response from Marina Zacharias who said she has seen this before with frontline...and suggested a mild detox..and a bunch of heart support supplements...

unfortunately..i can't afford what she's selling

What did she suggest? I might be able to help with some alternatives...you can pm me if you prefer.

I don't know why I didn't remember this last night, I guess I'm not thinking so well nowadays, but I looked it up and I am told that for Frontline, any shampoo with benzoyl peroxide will wash it off. I haven't a clue if that works for the other chemicals.

Liver Detox & support would be Milk Thistle. I think there are others that work also I just know this one. I really believe it helped my DeeDee girl. I don't think it is hard on the system. Some times I think Vets think of Detox as radical and harsh.

I agree with Val. And I would not do what the vet said.

Low dose Milk thistle (followed by Biochem's Liver Support Factors, or start with this if locally available), and I was also thinking of Solaray's lymph cleanse in a lower dose than labeled.
