My family is living in Japan for our first overseas duty assignment, where I've got my first GSD! It's been a struggle raising two preschoolers and a new puppy (I end up telling the kids to go lay down and the dog to go get something to color with...) but it's been a fun ride so far. Odin and I had our first training lesson today, which he found totally exciting and great and I gained a lot of confidence and direction from. Up til now, Odin has pretty much had the run of things, the only commands he knew were "sit" (which he does beautifully, especially when cheese is involved) and "shake" (much to the amusement of my kids).
I've lurked on this forum for a few days and read some great advice and gleaned much information from everyone's experiences and I look forward to continuing to do so, and hopefully being able to contribute.

Good to see you here! Military or Civilian living in Japan? (I am Army Civilian and I move all over the world).

 I am sure you had your hands full with 3 youngsters (1 puppy + 2 children), but it also sounds like you are getting a handle on things. I am sure you will find the training classes helpful. Yes Pictures we like Pictures.

I posted some pictures over in the Showing Off section and will try to add some more later. @Kathy- We're military, on the last year of our tour here. I've loved the experience of living in a foreign country, but I'm definitely ready to get back to Walmart and Arby's! Haha. Thank you everyone for the warm welcome!
