BTE2 is a bit over 13, currently getting palliative acupuncture, significantly gimpy. Butt in a sling gimpy.
So Tuesday night, we had a wreck at the last step to the yard - she slipped out of the sling. I swore. We carried on. Today I noticed she had a cut on that elbow. She hit it on the edge of one of the pavers near as I can tell. I put some doggy wound salve on it when I noticed it today.
Now I notice that the wound is a quarter inch circle or so. I tried to book an appointment on line for tomorrow but nothing is available on line until next week. I guess I'll call in the morning and talk to them about it. I don't see them giving her anesthesia to put in a stitch. I'm just in a quandary over this. Neither she nor I needed this event.

Well here's another nice mess........

Is the wound somewhere she can lick?

If you have some, vitamin C is helpful.

sending positive thoughts westward,

Well, the news is the wound wasn't from falling - the fall just opened the whatchamacallit. (sort of like a blood blister/cyct/sore) She has some antibiotics, my wallet is only slightly lighter. So I am not sure I should feel better (not caused by my mistake) or worse - as it just IS.

Hopefully the antibiotics help. I'd chalk this up to 'life' but that doesn't always help you feel better, I know.

So sorry I missed this. How is she doing now? We're you able to get an appointment? I'm so sorry this happened.

She's got a sock on it... It seems to be a pressure sore and she won't lie on the other side so I'm insisting that she keep positioned with that elbow on a cushy surface. These things are slow to heal and, of course, exacerbated biy the refusal to get pressure off of it. I've quit being freaked out about it. But your asking reminds me to check it and renew the lotions. She's still getting an oral antibiotic 2 x a day of which she is not pleased.

Welllll, we go in for acupuncture tomorrow. She won't just roll onto her side so it seems to always have some amount of pressure on it... not ideal but she's not listening to my reasoning. She gives me good days and days that have me worry. The cumbersome to "install" "help em up" "harness" helps a lot but it IS a bother to put on. The irony of trying to fit it is that the instruction/video shows installation on a standing dog. It's "more challenging" when the dog is in other positions - such as the ones that benefit from the harness. I think as well as working well for her that it is a bit easier on me getting her up and moving.
