OK so BTY2 had some breast lumps removed a bit back. Last week, we did a revisit because she was fussing at the incision (it had healed and been cleared a couple of weeks before that). Vet figured that the dissolvable sutures weren't dissolving so he sent me home with some meds and told to reschedule in I think it was 3 weeks but the tech put me down for two. No that was THIS week - Wednesday.

Today as I am talking on the phone I see another bloody spot on the floor. Damn. She's opened up the incision. I call, I send a photo, I say I think we need to come in today. Now here is the neat part -- I live in a rural subdivision - 5 acre minimum parcels - single family residential (for now anyway). About 7/8 of a mile to my west I stop to look. There is a very realistic looking image of either a very large muley with one heck of a rack or an elk. I stop to watch to see if it moves at all - I mean it is REALISTIC. Finally it moves it's head slightly. That was amazing. Now in Wyoming, it was pretty common to see elk. Any drive down Flaming Gorge = a herd or more of them. Here, I have seen one other one in the subdivision. I'm pretty sure it is an elk as I think about it. It didn't have the muley ears and I don't recall that much white on a muley's butt either.

Mulies can be run off, they can be chased off. Elk - they can just run through your fences, taking those down. They can beat the crap out of a dog. I'm still amazed.

So BTY2 has staples in her side and a t shirt to keep her from scratching the incision. My afternoon plans were altered significantly.

Now I suppose I need to check to make sure the shirt is doing it's job and I don't need the collar - well, that SHE doesn't need the collar.

I do have to laugh because BTE 2 is getting acupuncture and fancied food as she deals with infrastructure issues that all of us old folks face. Between her spleen surgery, the "youngster"s breast lumps, I have been down there a lot. 3 times this week... Hopefully the horse maintains a bit, BTE's appetite continues to improve, and maybe BTY doesn't need another surgery.

Maybe.

The animal story was fun anyway. I needed a reward. And they had some chocolate halloween candy left, too.

Oh my! I hope all stay healthy after this. How long until BTY2 gets her staples out?

That's amazing you got to see an elk. That'd be a dream sighting for me.

Hopefully BTE 2's incision heals soon and you have less trips to the vet crossedfingers

I wonder if the Elk are relocating to your area? We have a lot more mountain lions in towns now, likely because of all the fires.

Sigh. BTY2's staples come out in about a week. Sigh. BTE2 goes in for another acupuncture session Thursday.

However, BTY2 did a fair track and pretty nice obedience Sunday.

Elk. Usually "ho hum" when I was in Wyoming. They'd flock to the rancher's hay stacks (antelope, too). If I drove down the Gorge (Flamming Gorge there) there would be a large herd on the west side. I was at a conference on the front range when someone hurriedly came up to tell us that there was An Elk! across the street if we wanted to come down to see it. Yeah, no, I am not walking down the hill to watch an elk. Now I did take my neighbor to the elk refuge in Jackson for his 80th B'day. Here, we have a few but seldom see them. A few years back, one strolled across the place about 20 ft south of the lawn. I had the dogs out but managed to keep their attention away from the elk. This guy was a gas because he was so still. Here, our large hooved animals that are not domestic are usually mule deer. What I see as a result of fires is birds. Their patterns change.

Thanks for the well wishes for the vet services.... seems we really need those wishes!

This has been a year of "try again, sam" --- nothing stays on track.
Last week got BTE2's scheduled a day early so that I would just make one trip as BTY2's unstapling was scheduled for that afternoon. The receptionist kindly offered to move BTY2's appointment up so I wouldn't have to stick around town that long. Only come to find out today it was at least 10 minutes too early. I figure the accupuncture is more pressing than the staple removal (hope I'm right on that one) so.... unstapling is rescheduled for, get this, the 28th. Aeiiiiih...

To make up for this I've spent a sunny day (likely still a little crisp with gobs of mud around, too) inside sorting through my absolutely stupidly too much bunches of fabric for quilting. And now getting the stupid plastic drawers back in when they are full of sorted fabric isn't going well. So the plan now becomes pull the fabric out, get the drawers installed, put the fabric back in. It was a stupid project anyway but I'm in the "resort, shuffle, order" mode anyway. You would not know it from the state of my house but I am quite anal about how things are put away (and consequently, little gets put away...)

So anyway... here we are. Dirty dishes in the sink, papers all over the table, one bed is covered with fabric sorted into stacks, my annual letter has been written but needs an edit (again) to be less gloomy.

I do laugh at myself but I can see getting called for one of my medical appointments on the 28th (which I will take rather than wait another 2 weeks) and therefore having to put off BTY2 yet again. ...

I hope you get called in for your appointment on the 25th then! (I think that's the Friday)

It is always the way though, eh.

My bestie is gathering scraps for a quilt. It's going to look great. My grandparents quilted, I'm always impressed at those who do. Lots of time and work!

From the "look" of things, my procedure's not happening until Mid December - - so I am waiting on that to schedule any more "personal infrastructure" work. But BTY2 will go in for her last bout of unstapling.... Let's hope she doesn't "spill." .... wink Then I think it is Thursday that BTE2 goes in... That'll do it until Sunday when we track again. Conditions were kinda rough today and her articles were rotten. BUT nice recall, heel and send out in the bit of obedience we did. No witnesses to the obedience section of course.
In the meantime, I have a toe acting up - to avoid that during yesterday's shopping for building materials marathon, I walked more on the inside of that foot = pain on the inside now as well + the weather's causing pains. So I'm gimpy as well as grouchy...

BUT - I am not poor, I am not homeless, I am not seriously ill -- I'm just whining. (I do good at whining)

Whine away! I dropped something on a toe today so am feeling your pain.

Hopefully the Barker sisters do well. And here's hoping your procedure gets scheduled in a timely fashion.

How did I ever miss this. Your post had me laughing my head off
rofl I laugh because my materials for quilting is all organized in a zippered bin and it's all sorted by color. Clearly one of us (me) has way too much time on her hands.
