In my ever pursuit for relief for Yaras itchies, it was suggested I give her a bath with anti itch shampoo.
With my back being a mess lately I thought maybe is take her to a groomer and have her deshedded at the same time.
When we went to pick her up she somehow looked different to me. At first I thought it was because she was still a bit damp. But on the way home I started looking closer and it dawned on me. SHE CUT YARA'S HAIR!!
I've never used a groomer before and wasn't sure what to do. Yara is a beautiful long hair.
While I'm telling the Breeder about this I send her a picture and she noticed that not only did she cut off her beautiful golden locks and ear floofs, she cut her fluffy bloomers on the back of her legs and the long fringe on her belly. 😲

The first is before and second is how she looks now. I asked her why she cut Yaras hair and she swears up and down she never did.😡

While annoying that the groomer cut her hair, at least it will grow back.

When I lived in Texas, my girlfriend (who was a groomer at the time) used to cut my Kelly's hair in the summer because it was so hot down there. She looked a little funny for a couple of months and was back to normal by the fall and winter months. I don't know if it made the dog cooler, but it also kind of helped with the shedding for the summer months.

I can certainly sympathize-a long coat on a German shepherd is icing on the cake. We have had one excellent groomer for more than 20 years. Now she is reducing her hours, but we found a (young) highly skilled replacement who seems to work out well.

Of course, as is obvious, Yara is beautiful.

Yara is beautiful. I'm sorry if the groomer cut her hair, but hope the bath helps with the itches.

Well, humph. I'd be unhappy with that hair-do, too. It looks to me like she used a shedding blade or stripping comb. That's just not good. I've never taken a dog to a groomer so I have no stories to share about misadventures there.

Middle I never considered a stripping comb! That's quite the possibility as to why she says, she never 'cut' her hair with scissors.

Oddly enough I never had a problem with a dog groomer but boy oh boy, there's been some doozies with grooming our Persian kitties. We had been using a groomer several times a year for Sean and when he passed we took our present longhaired Persian to the owner. (Sean saw one of the other groomers there.) The owner is also a breeder so we thought our cat would be in safe hands. When he came home he had trouble walking on his back legs and was out of sorts. We called the vet and brought him in the next morning. The vet told us to ask if she used a noose when she groomed him, cut his nails, etc. because that shouldn't have happened. Sure enough she did and because he has arthritis in his back end it exacerbated it. Needless to say we never went back but not before telling her why we wouldn't return.

Yara is gorgeous and as long as she didn't have any traumatic results from being groomed she will forgive you.

Wow, SRM - that is a horror story!!!!!!!!!!! Your poor kitty cat.

Sandra, I hope Yara's fur is growing back out. How's she doing with the second winter we just got hit with?

Thanks to all of you for the sympathetic comments for Yara. Her coat is starting to grow back in and starting to get nice and soft as it was before.
SRM, I'd be livid if a groomer did that to my kitty pal. I hope he recoved from his ordeal quickly.
