So we've been working on finding things to make Nebbers less stiff. High quality supplements - meh. Gabapentin - meh. Meloxicam - best of all of them, but not perfect.
Since Toby has started on his 7-3 schedule, I'm walking ALL the dogs before work (and dodging skunks along the way). Before they were walked separately and Neb got kind of ignored and we thought he couldn't walk far anyways.
We just did 3.3k walk this morning, but close to the end, Neb ran out in front (bit of a gallop), so I started running and we all ran along. Walked him up a hill, and then we ran home. A bit over 800 meters in all. He wasn't out front the whole time, but he also wasn't dragging behind - to my side or behind but keeping up.
I was supposed to go to the cabins this weekend with my mom (who loves the dogs but has bad allergies). She has some medical issues, so I'm going on my own and bringing Neb. Now I'm wondering what he'll be up to doing!

He says thanks MJ!
I hope the other two don't kick up too much of a fuss when we leave. We went for dinner last night and apparently they barked for an hour. No idea what set them off, they've been good other times! So fingers crossed.

Thanks Rosa! We ran .25k this morning, he wasn't super out front but I thought, heck, let's try it. Didn't want to force him so stopped quickly. We'll definitely hike, but I'm kind of hoping we can do a short run up there too, maybe incorporated into a hike. He's a good boy, I want him to have fun. (In other news I stepped in Agis's poop this morning as I hunted around for it...

I'm wondering about that SRM. I think that's part of it. Though, I almost didn't hike with him today because I could barely get him to the end of the driveway at the cabins. I took a chance and we went into Algonquin Park (cabins are 10k away) and did two short flat hikes and he was out in front - one short running interval per trails too. So go figure. Then we come home and I can barely get him down the driveway again. He's a funny guy.
He did get to meet some kids on one of the trails, and he LOVES kids. Very gentle.
Tomorrow I'll take him on a longer hike (still short) and then decide about a second hike. Before going home!
Oh, goose poop, gross. In some ways that's worse than dog poop!!!

Well he was not sprightly today. I wasn't in the mood to drive far today into the park (yesterday was 130k round trip despite being only 10k away from the park) but I went anyways and thought we could do a rail trail that leads to some rapids. He just did not want to walk. We did 500m out and back, but he got to sniff lots and roll in something gross, so he had fun.
I think I am going to have to either cut out the running intervals or ease him in more slowly.

It sounds like you two are having a great time. I should spend more one on one time with my pups. Sorry about stepping in the poop. I tell ya, if there's poop somewhere on our entire property I will find a way to step in it. Now with Cowboy free ranging in the back I have to watch out for chicken poop too. I swear I'm always cleaning up poop

Rosa, yeah, darn poop! It's hard sometimes to spend one-on-one time so it was nice to just get away for a weekend. Agis gets that with backpacking. Poor Xerxes - when I run (big when) I usually take him though.
Middle, haha!
That's interesting re: compost. Here animal waste (including dog poop) can go in our green bin/organics program the city picks up (and I'm pretty sure then composts).
