Ugh. So last night taking the dogs out around 10:30 Toby insisted we take the elevator (Neb is arthritic - but we're on the third floor!).

Well who would step off but the big GSP on our floor who is also reactive (at least inside). Xerxes is always reactive, and Agis generally is when Xerxes is around - everyone's freaking out, which is great that late at night, or, period. I'm sure our neighbours were pleased.

We're outside when they come back out and say 'Maybe meeting outside would be better and that way they'll get along...our dog defends the hall'. Maybe, but not with Xerxes and not when Agis is so hyped up. Neb met him (happily) while Agis sat and watched. But whenever I'd release Agis, anger. The GSP is a month older than Agis, so it'd be nice if they got along.

We are going to do a neutral ground meet (probably the park across the street) with them. But there was lots of barking outside too, from the GSP, who has a...booming...bark. It's loud. We're at the far end of the hall and we can hear it clear as day. Apparently the neighbours hate the poor dog.

Jenn, You are braver woman than I! Just three dogs in an apartment - amazing that you can handle it. I'd almost need to do a check with other dog owners before opening my door to take mine out. So if I wore a hat, I'd say hats off to you on this one.

middle, I chuckled.

Agis is generally very friendly with other dogs (with a few notable exceptions), but less so when Xerxes is around. We do take them out separately sometimes, but not all the time.

The GSP is very hyper. They're supposed to be good running dogs, but I've never gotten one as I wasn't sure I'd be able to do it justice. Man I am glad I didn't! When we were outside it did not stop at all. Reminded me of a friend's viszla - he and Toby were doing a triathlon once, and me and his partner were hanging out. She threw the ball for that dog for 4 hours straight and it wanted more. He was a great dog, settled better when backpacking, but I was like 'Holy, day to day that would suck'.

I do feel bad the neighbours hate the GSP. There's a dog (Lab) next door and even they hate it, which is saying something.

Oh, but the funny thing - Toby's always said how crazy Agis is - and I disagree, he can spend a day snoozing if you need him too. After we got in from talking with the GSP and it's owners outside, Toby said 'I take it back. Agis is NOT crazy.'

This morning (6:30am so not prime dog time) I thought 'We'll take the elevator back up' but in the lobby I always step back a big ways. Elevator opens and the brindle puppy (a small dog, it's an older puppy now) that Agis hates for reasons unclear to us (it did bark at him when it was a really little puppy, but you can't cut a puppy some slack?). Everyone was good until I moved forward to grab the elevator - even though they were by the doors to leave, Agis did his growl bark and then Xerxes did his bay. Easy to stop them. The elevator went to basement, and another one was coming down but who knows who would get off that, so I decided to do what I should've done in the first place and take the stairs. Yesterday going up the stairs Nebbers was slow but he ran up this time (no doubt knew Toby had gotten their food ready).
