The hips and foot are looking better. Not constantly irritated, and I think the new skin is finally growing on her foot. She's still got some tissue that needs healing- but the fact that she isn't licking at them- that's great!
Yesterday and today, she moved around a lot, playing. Then she started licking her front legs- particularly the other side of the elbow... Now the skin is showing signs of irritation.
I don't know if this means with her moving a lot, the suit is chaffing her skin, or if it's rubbing her the wrong way and she is irritated from it. The skin clearly shows irritation. So I went ahead and cut holes in that $60 suit.
Now she's not licking at them as far as I can tell and she looks sillier than before. But the goal is comfort, and healthy skin. We'll see. I want to buy another suit but I need to see how this suit goes. Maybe I should invest in some cotton style hand-me-downs if I can figure out how to get the clothes to stay on her without making a strap that goes around the arthritis areas of her back.
Middle, Abbey started wearing boots back in November when she first started having her foot problem. So by now, she's gotten used to having boots on her back feet. But I tell ya, try making her wear boots on her front paws... Nope! She ain't having it!!!
SRM- I have wondered why the medical pros haven't suggested this. Maybe they think she's so stubborn, the expensive dog suits won't be worth the effort.
