Oh I'm glad she's responding the antibiotics! Yeouch! Any idea what caused it?

Well, Neilla, that's an unfortunate diagnosis. On fistulas --- One of my friends had pretty good success with changing diet - I think it might have been chicken and beef that they eliminated. The change in diet seemed to help but not totally eliminate the problem. I wonder if this might have been contributing to the issue with her sensitivity about her butt being touched/approached?

I don't want to think what happened in her past to make her so protective of her butt area.

Got rid of the little bit of canned food we were adding to her food and that seems to have made a big difference. So hopefully between dropping the canned food, limiting goodies and the probioitics she will be better.

I hope eliminating the canned food does the trick and Neilla gets some much needed relief.

It seems to be helping. She is a big sassy silly dog today. Fun to see her being so happy. When she isn't feeling well her relationship with Bill is very tenuous, one time she is fine the next time if he moves she is snarking at him from across the room. But when she is happy she is very comfortable being around him and wants to play a little and go out for walks.

Thanks for the update about your big white puppy-so glad to hear she can enjoy life again.

Mars had perianal fistulas also but he tolerated treating his hind end so we did topical cyclosporin and changed his protein source completely and it was all fine for years.

You've got enough going on with Bill's health and your own so let's hope that you have solved this dog problem crossedfingers

I'm so glad to read that she is responding well to treatment. She's a great pup.

I am glad the Antibiotics worked because using the cream would have been really ugly and probably impossible. At the vet they have to muzzle and have more than two people to do any thing around her rear end.

Oh no. I'm glad that Neilla is responding. Max's dermatologist was convinced that there is always a food component with these. I guess there are plenty of threads on PFs on the site for reference - hoping there is continued improvement!
