So Xerxes, our beagle, is leash reactive. If we have space and catch him early we can keep him quiet. Today in the lobby of the building there was a guy who barely moved with a dog as we were entering. I tried to back up to let him leave but he just stood there, so we entered.

Xerxes started to bay which sets Agis off (pack mentality) so in my best MEAN MUMMY voice I said 'QUIET!'

Some other guy in the building said 'Whoa! Jesus!' and I was trying not to roll my eyes at him in the back of my head.

I wasn't mad at the dogs, I was just telling them I meant business and they were quiet immediately. Sheesh! Mean mummy voice means BEHAVE NOW!

Agis is over 42lbs now, Neb is 38lbs, and Xerxes is 25lbs of douchy-ness, so if they pack up it's a lot of dog.

I do need to work more with Xerxes on his own. He's generally good if we catch it in time except it was such close quarters it was too much for him. Toby was showering after a bike ride so I was taking out all of them on my own.

Maybe I can have you work on my 2? They generally quiet when we let them out in the yard, but if I step outside with them, Ciara starts to bark and then Caleb has to join in. It usually takes me a minute or two to convince them to be QUIET, no matter how forcefully I say it.

I'm glad we live out in a rural area or my neighbors would get tired of hearing the quiet command as I try to get them to settle. After all, I just stepped out to get the mail.

Johanna, it doesn't always work that well - I think I'd stopped Xerxes from going completely reactive, so he actually heard me! And Agis is generally good with that stuff.
