Kody has been like clockwork with this poop and pee habits. Around 7:30 am he has always gone out and pooped and peed. Yesterday by 11am he had not gone so I called the vet and left a message. Right after that he went. Now today its the same. It's 9:30 in the morning and he still hasn't gone.

He's acting fine, he's eating and drinking just fine but he's not going potty. What should I do? Should I take him to the Vet???? Last night he went out last at about 7:30pm, so were up to 15 hours (and counting) where he hasn't gone. Please advise what you think. I'm hoping its nothing but I don't want to ignore symthoms. His poop was just fine (solid, not runny or anything like that).

I think that sometimes we, well, over-think. I'd try to chill for a while. He did defecate & urinate yesterday, right? So he's likely just readjusted his schedule. If lack of defecation is a worry, I'd do what my vet advised - saying, do this. It's what we would do if you brought the dog in. -- that is get some of the pre-made drugstore enemas. Tip junior's butt up while you do this so that it is a bit elevated (think having his groin over your knee when you are seated but you can do it with stairs or a box, too) administer 1/2 dose of one of the syringes. OK I expect a chorse of "eeewww"s but (or butt) it works. It works releatively promptly. Might get the guy back on the schedule you are used to. But it will "produce."

Everyone is welcome to not like this advise... all I can say is it has worked with my dogs.

Neilla routinely goes 14 - 17 hours without peeing and pooping. 4 pm is her last pee and poop most days and doesn't need or want to go out until after 7 am. All that goes out the door so to speak if her tummy gets upset.

Ok, I'm going to try not to worry (as I look at the clock and its 10:35 and nothing so far impatient) I called the vet back yesterday and cancelled my request for a call back from the Vet. I sure hope he goes soon, I likely just worry too much. But its comforting to know others go this long without a problem.

We often have the opposite problem: Nova will defecate on her late night walks regardless of how often/much she has done during the day. Then if she misses one time I worry. That happened this week: she defecated about 5-6 PM and would usually do it again about 11-but she didn't. Her next walk was 8AM and that was 14 hours later. How could this happen? But she's fine and I am pretty sure that Kody is fine too.

Since it's happened two days in a row maybe his habits are changing?

keep us posted,
MJ

I would not worry overmuch unless he is not acting right.

Well he finally went at about 12:20pm. I guess your all right, I should try to worry less. Maybe it is a new schedule for him. I kind of liked it the way it was because then I knew he was good for the day except for maybe a pee.

As long as he's healthy and acting normally I'll just have to lighten up and go with the flow. Thanks everyone for your feedback.

Neb is mixed about how many times he poops, he can go once a day sometimes, so...24hrs? But he always pees.

Just thought I'd update here. Kody was off schedule for just over a week, but now he's back to his normal routine. I guess the lesson here is not to worry (something I'm really not good at )
