I've just been looking at blankets on line at Walmart. Found some that were listed as "Kid and Pet Friendly" rofl

I wonder what their criteria is for "Kid and Pet friendly." Does that mean they're edible? Or that they're synthetic but treated with some nasty chemical to make them fire retardant? I'm just a real skeptic. And your laughter sends me the message, Rosa, that you, too, are skeptical.

I've been on a kick for sometime now about trying to avoid imports, trying to avoid synthetics, trying to avoid WalMart. The latter came after a move to Arkansas. (Try "The United States of Wal Mart" for some issues.) The synthetic avoidance started with fire-aware - what will kill you in a house fire is likely the smoke from synthetics burning - what will hurt you the most if your clothing catches fire is synthetics that burn hotter and melt onto your skin. (OK I know none of us intend to light our house on fire.) Then it's become an environmental awareness thing... listen to the proliferation of tiny bits of plastic in the ocean and figure that the fleece I championed for so long (good reuse I thought) is contributing significantly to that. The import avoidance thing was to cut down on stupidly needless transportation costs and maybe try to focus on natural things made in the US. I used to justify most anything because I buy most of my stuff second hand. (It's more fun for me to look through a junk store than to look through a regular store.) At the same time, the junk store can be an eye opener to our "throw it out" society. ...... OK OK enough Debbie Downer from me!

My dogs have always regarded whatever I choose to sleep under as "pet friendly" even when I say it is not.
