Just wondering what other's have kept from a pet they've lost. I'll just start with Shiloh. I had got him this Eeyore pillow when I went to WDW. When I purchased it I was worried that maybe it was too big. I'm so thankful I bought it, Shiloh would carry that pillow all over. He'd get it every time he laid down and put his head on it. That's the treasure I have from him.

From Shoshi I have her little travel pillow. On our road trips she would be in the front passengers seat. I noticed she was laying her head on the armrest when she slept and I thought that couldn't be very comfy. So I got her a little travel pillow and we used it on every trip. She seemed so much happier with her head on the pillow. I also have a special toy that I held back. She passed before The Holiday but I had already bought her presents. They ended up being distributed but I held back what I know would have been her favorite.

From Eli I have the blankie I crocheted for him for the holidays. I also have his shoes but I don't know if I'll ever be able to look at them. His stuff still makes me cry.

Other than that I have collars and I lifetime of wonderful memories. And three sets of paw prints for each. Two when they were here, the other with their passing.

All of the above are some of my most cherished items.

Other than leashes and collars, we haven't kept much from past dogs. The only thing I still have from Aodhán is a stuffed chipmunk. It was one of the few toys she didn't de-stuff within a day of giving it to her. Generally my guys are kind of hard on their toys and I have to periodically (and discretely) throw out the tatters before getting them some new toys.

We have the ashes of all of our past dogs. I think they are still packed in a box upstairs since I still have to make bookcases and shelves before finishing all that unpacking.

And pictures from over the years to relive their memories

I have a small box with dog heirlooms... tags from the days when they wore tags and I likely couldn't tell you which tags belonged to which of those two dogs. A chewed up collar or two from the first Barker Sisters - one who loved to chew the other dog's collar and the other dog loved it. A replica (of sorts) toy of the toy that BTE1 invited BTY1 to play with their first night together. Ashes. The collar from some guys. I might look for a place for the bulk of the ashes and perhaps keep just a small bit from each dog. It's all just symbolic. I don't have many photos of the first two dogs but lots of the more recent dogs.

I should write my dog stories. I think we all have dog stories.

Can I answer two ways? We have the practical stuff: dog beds, dishes, leashes-even Mars' winter coat that worked as an enormous overcoat for Nova.

We have the emotional stuff: my key ring is almost empty but has Wolf and Mars' name tags. I always carry a tiny silver box of Wolf's ashes in my purse-the canisters with their ashes are safe at home.

This is hard. Because I was dealing with my parents when my dogs died, I packed away a lot of stuff because I wasn't able to deal with it. Over time, I give more things away. But like MJ, I have kept some practical stuff that you can't get anymore, or was expensive, that I am hanging on to. That's hard because of the dogs I've had, none are even in the same size range, and I don't know what the future holds for me dog wise.

I have their ashes, their collar, a special thing on my keychain for each. But most of all they are just now part of who I am.

Lisa, love how you said they are now a part of who you are now. That's so true.

Looks like we've all got some treasures. I too have pictures everywhere of my pups, both those now as well as those in the past. I have one shelf that holds everyone's picture when they were 8 weeks old. I just love my pictures which will bring up my next thread.

I'm not sure about treasures - I have lots of junk. Just looked at that box and realize I need to go through it (like everything else) and figure out what I want & what to do with what I don't. If I figure out whose tag that is for all the tags, maybe I'll put them in a shadow box with some of the collars or other remnants. Thanks, Rosa, I'll add that to my list...
