I have not posted any recent updates on Havoc here.

He's hanging in there but slowly declining. He is having difficulty getting up and down and now drags his right rear leg pretty badly. He shifts his weight to the left to compensate.

He sleeps a lot. But he eats well and is engaged.

I know he is hurting but darn it he still wants to go for walks.

He will be 12 in 5 weeks. I do believe he will make it but not much beyond that I'm afraid.

Hard to believe he was a puppy when I joined here.

Oh Kathy, some of us just hang around!

Have you considered canine chiro for Havoc? It really helped barker the elder the first - as a huge help. That's all I have that might be helpful except for the sympathy for the worry and conflict watching him grow old. Some of my dogs are "markers" in that their arrival ties into some personal beginning or end - or they cover an "era" if you will of my life. Poignancy of dogs of itself is tremendous but they seem to have this added "chapter" for me.

May Havoc remain happy and last as long as it works for the two of you.

May Havoc remain happy and last much longer than anticipated.

By the time they are around 12 they do start sleeping a lot. I don't know where the time goes, it goes way to fast for me.

Kathy, do we have a diagnosis on Havoc? Do you use anything for pain management?

Wow, I remember when you brought Havoc home. Time sure flies! I sincerely hope he is still with you after his 12th birthday. Thinking of both of you. hug

I second the idea of chiro if you can swing it. I know it did wonders for Aodhán her last couple of years.

It's good to hear from you and really good to hear about your boy's grasp on life. Being engaged is central to any of us-dog or person or otherwise.
