Be sure to report an adverse effects your dog may experience.

Quote
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is alerting pet owners and veterinarians to be aware of the potential for neurologic adverse events in dogs and cats when treated with drugs that are in the isoxazoline class.

Since these products have obtained their respective FDA approvals, data received by the agency as part of its routine post-marketing activities indicates that some animals receiving Bravecto, Nexgard or Simparica have experienced adverse events such as muscle tremors, ataxia, and seizures. Another product in this class, Credelio, recently received FDA approval. These products are approved for the treatment and prevention of flea infestations, and the treatment and control of tick infestations.

The FDA is working with manufacturers of isoxazoline products to include new label information to highlight neurologic events because these events were seen consistently across the isoxazoline class of products.

Thanks Lisa. My holistic vet sent me the information last week since we have Bentley on Credelio and are now wondering what the hell we are going to do. At this point, because he plays with other dogs, I no longer want to use a flea and tick collar and Frontline is completely useless in our area for ticks. Bentley came to us already on Credelio from the rescue and to be honest, we have yet to find a tick on him when we are finding them all over us. I'm more concerned about ticks than I am fleas here. I plan to finish out the season with Credelio (holding my breath the entire time) and will be doing a lot of hard looking at other options for next season.

Thankfully, I have not needed to use anything on my dogs in New Mexico. Its always something, whether for humans or pets with medicines.

Thanks a lot Lisa. Nova is on nexgard and we were very happy to move from a topical to an oral formulation. So now I'm worried. But as long as nothing bad happens in the next few weeks we'll discontinue flea/tick stuff until next spring.

I've been very fortunate to not have flea issues here. Ticks, let's not even start about ticks!

Dodds also has a post on this, though it doesn't add much new, except the possibility that some of these are coming from the food they eat, which would add to the load, so dogs and cats may actually have more toxic stuff in their blood than you give them...
