I'm wondering what type of flea and tick preventative you use for your dogs? I'm just thinking of trying something new. A lot of people seem to like that Seresto collars. I never liked flea collars, should these change my mind? And would they be safe with a new pup in the house. I'm thinking those wouldn't be a good idea for us, my little girl will likely bite at something like that on another dog. But there's lot of other things and want to know what others suggest.

I started using the Scalibor collar (which worked really well) for Phoenix because he was an only dog and he didn't really get to play with too many dogs on a regular basis. As the mfg. instructions tell you to wash your hands when you handle the collars, I would not and will not use the collar when we get a second dog bc of the dogs possibly biting at the collar during play.

We have found that Frontline is pretty much useless here in upstate NY. The rescue we got Bentley from started using Credelio. It's a new chewable flea and tick preventative approved for use back in January from Elanco Animal Health (Eli Lilly) and I had never heard of it. Our current vet had never heard of it and we are finding that it works really well. We are constantly finding ticks on us, but so far, only a few on Bentley and none that have been attached. The rescue gave us three doses of the Credelio while we were fostering Bentley so we have one more dose we can use for this month but come October, I'm going to have to decide to see if I can find a vet that we can purchase it from or get him a Scalibor collar for October and November.

We don't seem to have a tick problem in my area, at least I have never seen one nor know anyone who has.

As for fleas, I will use Zodiac topical solution, that has been working well for Yukon.

I checked out all of these and I think I'll go with Zodiac. The price is right. I haven't had any fleas in years but I like to keep them on a preventative. It just seems with all of Eli's meds I haven't been able to get the flea preventative like I use to but I do like to keep them on something just in case.

Thanks all and Thanks Anita!!

You are welcome, Rosa. smile

Glad you found one in your price range. I hope you will be happy with Zodiac.
