As some of you may recall I use to have a loveseat in the living room and Kody destroyed it. A couple of weeks ago he chewed one end of the ottoman. Tonight I noticed he started chewing on another end but it wasn't bad. I pointed to it and told him not to do it again. But I'm wondering if there might be something around the house that tastes awful that I could maybe put into the hole? This way if he bites down on it he might think twice about doing that again. Of course, nothing to hurt him.

Ahem, I tried bitter apple with Barker the Elder the 2nd. She (Ms. Picky Picky Gourmet Diner) thought it enhanced the wicker rocker.... so yeah well, no. Pup not allowed freedom until furniture design/alteration/critique phase is over over over...

I've used Bitter apple and sometimes it works, sometimes not. As middle said, it can depend on the dog. How about a pepper type mixture? Not super hot, but most dogs don't like the spicy flavors.

Hmmmmm-that sounds familiar. We lost a very old truly dusty biochemistry book and a few other foxed paperbacks-all from the bottom shelves. Then there was the bed linen phase for a week or so. Our breeder recommended Keep Off. It's an aversive spray that truly stopped Nova. Also, after something was sprayed a few times, she learned to avoid it. The serious drawback is I find the smell aversive, too (people aren't supposed to smell it). You can get it at Amazon.

I'm sure you'll work it out.

I put a dab of TeaTree oil on a Q-tip and then just dabbed the furniture or LOL those garbage receptacles as a deterrent. Cheyenne would chew the bottom threshold of her crate when she wasn't in it, I didn't TTO that because I wanted her to think the crate was a good thing. I would just stop her when I caught her.

It is just a consistent training thing. No and replace with something good.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm going to try them all and report back.
