Hi all. I am asking for good thoughts and prayers. Abbey's zit that she had for a few years now suddenly grew in size, more than twice what it used to be and had already broken skin before we could get her to the vet. The veterinarian said that is definitely a tumor, but only surgery can confirm. Blood work is being performed and got surgery scheduled for next Thursday. It will be sent off to test for cancer. I am hopeful and praying for a good outcome.

Sending good thought for you and Abbey.

I am just guessing her that it is subcutaneous cyst, so are benign some are cancerous. https://www.petmd.com/dog/general-health/evr_dg_lumps_and_bumps

I know it is difficult to not worry, but try not to.

I took her back yesterday. I was so concerned it was getting infected, yellowish drainage was coming out and she was scratching at it and made it bleed. A different vet who was the one that originally called it a zit some years ago took her back and got her cleaned up. She says it is more of a cyst and drained it the best she could. It could still be a tumor, but She said it is an oily kind of fluid and the whole thing still needs to be surgically removed. She was aent home with antibiotic sprays and an e collar (backwards ) to keep her from scratching at it which worked very well. This morning, she was feeling very much better. She seemed more relaxed and rested.

Thanks for asking. Her surgery is set for Thursday

Thanks for the update. If it helps, my Shoshi was had many (and I mean many) lumps and bumps that had to be removed and both Eli and Shiloh had a couple. Thankfully, none of the cysts amounted to anything. I know this waiting is awful, but I'm keeping you both in my thoughts and prayers for a great outcome on Thursday.

That sounds about "right" for a good outcome. One thing to remember is that you may feel like you are home free when doggo gives no attention to the surgery site for a couple of days but beward of "Day 3" which is when the site becomes itchy. This is the voice of experience recalling that the evet reclosing of the wound cost about 4 times what the initial surgery did....

Abbey had her surgery on Thursday and she is doing great! I think busy life had me thinking she wasn't feeling well as she wasn't as playful like she used to be in the days leading up to realizing that "zit" had suddenly doubled in size. She is now much more active and attentive and nicer to our neighbors (before, she would just bark at them, which NEVER happens, so it was a sure sign she was hurting).

She had 6 stitches and is still wearing the e collar. I did not get to speak with the vet but the technician that brought her to me checked the file and told me they went ahead and sent it off to be tested. So we have a good few more days before knowing for sure.

This waiting game sucks but time is passing quickly with so much going on.

Waiting is the hardest, isn't it?

It's good to hear she is more herself. That tells you she has much less pain and much more comfort. I hope everything comes back as nothing to worry about.

I agree, the waiting is always the worst part. I'm keeping our sweet girl in my thoughts and prayers and am hoping for great results.
