The Crime: Insert photo of the mutilated brown slipper

The Accused: Insert photos of Milla and Ninja

When interviewed this morning, the owner stated that the youths in question would not come when called last night, one even jumping over a gate. She went in there and captured them and dumped them unceremoniously over the gate and herded them into the room where she cut off the possibility of further escape attempts by shutting the door.

She also admitted that she did not get up as usual this morning when the defendants became active, normally she would take them out and leave them in their crates. Instead she went back to sleep.

Apparently, the juveniles had been sleeping along side the deceased for over two months now without a problem.

"I am in shock" said the owner, "they just turned."

According to police detective, Alberta Hoodunnit though, there was evidence of a similar crime that happened months ago at the residence:

Lt. Det. Hoodunnit said that the owner claims the previous incident was committed by a gang of whelps that were not yet responsible for their actions. She would not say whether the participants of today's incident were involved.

The owner's parents are beside themselves. "If they would do this to such a personal item," sobbed her mother, "we just don't know what else they may be capable of."

A neighbor, Shirley Rae Cyst, confided that the youths' grandfather was a black. "You just can't trust the solid ones you know, that's where they get it from." Ms. Cyst isn't worried about living next door to them, she says, "I have guns and ammo, if them varmints come after my slippers, they'll go home with a load of bird shot in their black butts."

A local vet tech, Elmira Needle stated that there were rumors that the owner had started giving them raw meat. "Meat, especially raw meat" she explained, "awakens their dormant, ancient, wild tendencies. I am not surprised that it has come to this pass. We are recommending Science Diet BM (Behavior Modification)."

Trainer/behaviorist, Victoria Stillwater, says that the owner is at fault by allowing them access to the bed and by treating them like little kids. She suggests buying them a soft cushy bed of their own and several slipper-substitutes.

A trainer and rehabilitator of some of the worst offenders, Cesar Pillan offered them a place at his facility, but also claimed that an alpha roll, exercise, and a collar of his own design would probably do the trick.

A representative of the breed rescue, Dee Nuttem said that this is definitely the issue of a puppy mill. "With a personal item so viciously attacked," she says, "it is definitely separation anxiety which is due to bad breeding." In answer to the fact that the owner was just feet away from the culprits, she countered that "this is a severe case." "And these pups should have been altered months ago" she added, "it is no wonder they are acting up now. All of this could be avoided if people would just go to rescues instead of breeders."

AKC representative, Ima Wasp said that they are aware of the situation and are keeping an eye on it.

A spokesman from PETA, Nomo Critterkepin said: "This is the foreseeable result of using animals for our own edification. The dissection of the slipper is evidence that these animals, bred and raised in captivity, shun domesticity." After inquiring whether the slipper was made of leather or fur, he stated that their organization may be paying the owner a visit.

For now the youngsters will be kept in a holding pen, though their owner says she will let them go to class tonight. She is looking to get them into a young offenders program at their school.

Not sure how to add the photos. But I posted this 8 or 9 years ago, along with a few sequels.

My final word.

A note from Warden, Sue:

It is with much regret that I must announce the passing of the inmate affectionately called Milla Monster. She never did make it to be a trustee like her mother. She never did too well with all of our many programs to modify her behavior. She was always fun, always intelligent, and really sweet and a good girl. I couldn't let her suffer in a body that couldn't keep up with her spirit, and I had to let her go. But her crazy eyes, her wonky ears, her energy and joy, her cowlick, and the several times she managed to connect with my forehead, with that rock solid concrete slab of a forehead she had, ugh, I'm going to miss you little girl. What a great personality. Run free.

Well, since they were littermates, it seems fitting to not have a separate thread for the twain. Ninja turned 10 on Tuesday. I had her put down on Wednesday. She lost her back end on Monday, and even with double doses of pred for 48 hours, she just couldn't find it. I couldn't let her drag herself around.

I'll never forget sleeping with her and her cone, the yorkie-mix with a death wish, the many times I had to save her arse after she picked a fight with one of my other bitches. How she NQd for not wanting to lay down in a puddle on the same day that she took first place in Rally. Ah well, this is why we convince folks not to get littermates. This is going to be my bad year.

RIP Ninja. I can't believe how fast ten years goes.

I'm sorry for your losses. I'm sure you will long remember Milla and Ninja, such characters.

It never gets easy, but losing two so close together must be even more heartbreaking.

RIP and run free.

I'm so sorry for your losses.

I have to say your years of stories of trials and successes and personalities are great reads. It's a pleasure and a pain to look back, I guess.

take care,
MJ

Thank you. They were fun girls to have. I have been so blessed with my critters. Losing them is the worst, but having had them is still better.
