Has anybody had experience with a dog who gobbles their kibble too quickly? our current rescue literally inhales his 2+ cups (2x/Day) of kibble with water! I am a bit worried that he is eating too fast and was wondering if anyone has had a similar dog?

Is it a danger to them? I.E. Bloat?

If so, does anyone have any recommendations as to a good bowl to slow it down?

I see a lot of "Slow Eating" bowls listed on Amazon - do they work?

Thanks!

Yes, they do work - mine still eats really fast but when he was on dried food it worked. He is back on pre-prepared raw food and I add water to this as it also slows him down.

Good luck and congratulations on your new rescue :-)

Yes, BTY 2 is a chow hound. Because I think it is better that one chew one's kibble, I've gone with one of the slow eater bowls. It IS plastic but it does slow her down significantly. It is a series of concentric circles with dips. It can be cleaned in the top rack of the dishwasher (I don't have a dishwasher) so cleaning it by hand is not the easiest thing.

It is thought although I'm not sure it has been substantiated that fast eating can lead to bloat. Since she is a bit of a firecracker and also thin and deep chested... Especially the deep chested stuff = more prone to bloat, I figured a slow eater bowl (got hers through Sierra Trading Post at a good price) was a good investment.
