Now....

2014 SPARCS INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON DOG BEHAVIOR
http://caninescience.info/events-2014/

Direct Link to Stream:
http://sparcs.varvid.tv/ http://live.sparcsinitiative.org/

Haven't looked at it closely though to see what it covers, except it states this:
6/20/14 – “Aggression” and Conflict
6/21/14 – Temperament and Personality
6/22/14 – Science in Training

ETA: my provider won't let me see it???? 5 minutes into it, and it cut out. No problem with any other site frown

Well, phooey!!! Maybe I tried too late in the day, since I'm West Coast.

I'm having all sorts of browser problems today I think....might be my slow connection...

Ha! got the replay of the afternoon section - why dogs bark....

I looked at the speaker bios and probably missed a lot of the info there; but did many of the speakers have much practical experience/success in training dogs (any breeds)in actual jobs - I saw one that seemed to have done sled dog racing, etc.; but didn't see too many others - i.e. ScH, AKC (or similar) Obedience/Rally, Sheep herding, or any actual working dogs - Police/Military K9's, or even S&R dogs?

Personally, I would have a great deal more respect for folks who have actually done some real life training of working dogs than those who deal in studies and theory.

Certainly true for me in my own chosen field of IT and Software Design/Development; and also in dog training as well. I like to see the actual real results of something the folks telling me how and why to do something have done with their own approach(s).

^^^^ laugh That's cool!

They changed the hosting link, and that is working much better for me. Caught the talk about the questionnaire about all sorts of behaviours like anxiety, fear, aggression, etc. Jazz's breed(s) popped up in each category....I'm doomed....

The Dingo guy is pretty nervous....

I missed the morning talks, I really enjoyed the neuroscience guy, which was pretty fascinating - finally someone answered my question about the click/reward, though I'm not sure that I could repeat it wink

Interesting discussion on breeding and selecting for colors and the change in behaviour. Just a quick discussion.

The Dingo guy was a student and I don't think he had a lot of data. All the students seemed very nervous.

I missed all of Sundays talks frown I think I'm going to sign up for a membership next pay check so I can go back and watch all of them... hopefully I can watch the 2013 talks too.

I think you're right about the dingo guy.

The talks from 2013 that are available are listed on the site somewhere. I'm not sure there was as much "data" stuff last year, not sure.

There were a few talks on Sat I would have liked to have seen. I caught a couple on Sunday. The french Canadaian guy talked a lot about scent and training in one, which was really interesting.

Kinda interested in what I missed from Coopinger's talk (sp?), he had some provacative respones in the panel discusion on Sunday.
