I know he has been hurting, summer, lots of excitement, using pain killers more than usual. Tonight he fell down three stairs. So not ready. I know I have been MIA, from here, from my family, fur and skin. Jess is having two sitters a day, dogs are looked after by the housekeeper and dh. I just took one contract, now I have 3 with the equivalant of 40 hours each a week. I have multiple hard drives and screens and I don't stop. I am just venting. I knew years ago when we did the mri we were on borrowed time. I am taking Tuesday morning off, vet consult, see what plan of action might exist for Bear. For now, he is sedated and on rest. I hate this.

He's actually doing pretty good this morning. He slept on a couch all night last night, he's upstairs sleeping beside dh on the floor right now - yes my husband is lazy today ROFL! I haven't given him a pain pill yet this morning, he came out with us for a campfire and was OK last night once the pain pills kicked in. I wouldn't feel too sorry for him, I found him stealing cat food upstairs... Obviously he can make it up the stairs for food. Dh just woke up and said he's wagging his tail hard. We are going to mosport races today, so he can stay in the house, I'll gate the upstairs off and close the door to the basement.
I think it has just been too exciting after a long winter of inactivity. We only just warmed up to warmer than a witches boobie. This week has been outside every night, me working a bit from home, so outside with the laptop how did we ever work without flash drives smile Holiday weekend, lots of traffic, we're on the walking route to the ice cream parlour smile We built a new patio this weekend. So he is going to the vet Tuesday, but it seems less grim this morning.

Less grim = BRIGHTER, OK a little brighter. I don't want to be silly, I know Ozzy has real challenges. The point is to enjoy his ability to make it upstairs for food and the like; this day by day stuff requires discipline.

Do take care,
MJ

Good to hear - he's a buddy from way back and I just love him. I hope he continues to do well.

When Kramer fell after he jumped off the deck steps, I thought it was the end. He walked with all four legs goosestepping and he looked awful. 2 weeks of crate/x-pen rest (something he could turn in as his back was the issue) and some Mel...what is that stuff? The NSAID liquid that smells like ferret pee, according to my vet - and the dogs love it so you have to hide it or they'd OD...well, anyway, that stuff, half doses (by weight) and he had huge improvement and was back to normal within a month.

After that he wore his suitcase harness all the time and I would make him wait for stairs (more like race him to the top). hugging for you and Oz.

Thank you everyone who responded. You guys are family - Oz is 10 July 02nd - I typed early August, but we know whose birthday that was wink - I always got them mixed up! We adopted him in January, that is when I came on these boards, you saw him as a youngster, supported me through his back diagnosis, put up with my, "I'm here, wait no I am not", phases, which still continue... At some point I might acknowledge and accept I feel sub-standard unless I complain about or work too many hours at a job wink For now, work is just my addiction, some folks drink. do dope, eat, I work...
Bear will get through, he has no choice wink The way he used to peeve Sandi off when we adopted him and she was approaching senior, we joked we would bring a young pup full of P&V for him to enjoy his senior years with - and we did, but Dolly only is full of P&V a half hour a day. He'll get through, we have a deal, except I had the same sort of deal with Sandi and she broke it, but she was a collie, who expects them to keep their word wink Today, tonight is a good day. I'm having trouble realizing I have to log good v. bad days for the next while. Of course he could live another 30 years, I still wouldn't be ready to lose him smile
