I bought a big beef heart... the thing is huge... I am thinking to chunk it up and toss it to the dogs... is that what you guys do? or do you feed it whole??

I cut beef heart up. High in taurine, very healthy and even Stop & Shop, my local grocery, sells it, thought you have to ask the butcher where it is.

I cut it up into large chunks. Put each chunck in a zip lock bag and then put them in the freezer.

I cut it up into large chunks, approximately 2 inch squares. My dogs LOVE beef heart!

I also cut it up into chucks and feed as MM for meals.

Speaking of beef heart, I need to defrost my 50lb box of it...

I buy beef heart in 60# boxes. Thaw it and put about 3/4 of a heart in each gallon bag. I pull it out and feed chunks over several days to the dogs. I also feed lamb and pork heart at times.

Where do you buy beef heart? Do only wholesale meat places carry it? I am in Cincinnati.

Lots of grocery stores sell it in their meat department, honest! It's hard to spot. Ask the butcher!

I get it at the grocery store, though I cook it. My grocery store has a special area where they have beef heart and kidney, and some other weird stuff. It may also depend on how well the store serves different ethnicities.

I find it on occasion at one of the local grocery stores. But usually only at ONE of the stores in that chain. None of the others seem to carry it. I usually just go to the small grocery store that has a butcher and order it.

I also cut it up into smaller pieces to feed. Especially since it tends to be pretty rich and can cause diarrhea if you give too much at once.

I find beef heart at the grocery store too. Along with Beef Kidney, Pig Hock, Chicken Heart, Pig foot etc..

All the stuff I would never consider eating but Yukon loves.
