Sometimes she will eat from a spoon and not from her bowl. It is VERY frustrating! Oh, and being calm about it, for Jazz, is very important. frillint Veteran Joined: Sep 2010 Posts: 1,305 WI	I got a can of soft food today same brand of his dog food and just put a little in and see if he will eat it.Cant give him much of it as he is sensitive, but maybe the wet will help. Maybe he feels let out as chief gets yogurt and egg in his food. He is so stubborn when it comes to this. He just wont even look at it if he dont want it. I even try to hand feed it and he will just walk away and sometimes go to sleep or will stare at Chief when he eats. Its just so frusterateing when he doesn't eat for 3 or 4 days he is old and he needs the food and I hate him not eating when I am offering it. Then Chief this morning didn't want his food because I was laying on the floor trying to get Smokey to eat. Smokey ate some this morning, then I hand fed Chief a little and petted him then he ate. He was doing good the past couple days ate the dog food mixed with can right down, but he would touch it today. he ate a little when my step mom hand fed him, but then Chief didn't want his food he just wanted to lay on my lap. Its a bit frusterateing. I think Chief is only doing it because Smokey is getting extra attention. Chief hasn't acted like this in months. Chief- My rescue GSD that has taught me so much. I have tried splitting it up somedays he eats it all others he eats a little but most he just turns his nose up. Yesterday he would eat it with the canned food even, so i put a little peanut butter in it. Thats his favorite thing in the world and he ate it right up. This morning i did the same thing he only ate a little then just walked away. I have tried hand feeding him sometimes he will eat for me sometime he will eat for my step mom. Its so hard him not eating, because he needs that nutrition. Ill be making a post about him this weekend with photos and such and an update about him overall. Sorry to take the thread away, but for normal dogs the article is definitely useful. Smokey isn't normal Chief- My rescue GSD that has taught me so much. She all of a sudden shows little interest in her food. She does eat eventually but she has to let it sit a few minutes. I changed variety of kibble within same brand (earthborn Holistic). As Havoc requires grain free they all get the same. She had been eating EH for a long time but I regularly swap varieties between the Coastal Catch and Primitive Natural. I also add canned food and a bit of water. I think May just likes it soupier so added extra canned. It helped but she is not eating with the gusto she did before. I cut her back a little as she has filled out well and is leaving some food in her bowl (makes Havoc happy!). She does not like yogurt or pumpkin. I am thinking of changing brands but my choices are so limited here. I guess I can go back to ordering online too. I've just tried some canned Trippett for Jazz, it has worked well - eating AND happy. But only two days now, still too early to draw conclusions. I started this is few months ago when she was just so darned hungry all the time and not keeping her weight on. tested negative for EPI. Now she seems uninterested in her food and her weight is excellent. She is eating just seems disinterested. What is Trippett? Much like May, Cooper has in the last few weeks decided he isn't terribly interested in eating I feed Canidae grain free (best I can get here) So I tried changing flavours, then bought a small bag of a different brand (Australian made BlackHawk). He gets some raw mixed in. He is so damn lean (hips) but this is getting worrying. If I could afford to I would go back to raw but that is simply impossible at this time. I have changed his bowl (twice), fed inside/outside but half the time he wont eat. If he doesn't have a small meal (1/2 cup) at lunchtime he bile vomits int he afternoon. He did have blood work done a few months ago and he can't eat bones anymore or ends up with icky poop. I am going to drop into the vets to weigh him tomorrow as when he had his xrays (2 weeks ago) he was 34.2 kgs and the vet said he is still too lean This dog is going to be the death of me. It sounds like the enzyme/probiotics helped with the weight issue. Max was disinterested in food when I fed kibble. I think it did not agree with his stomach. I wonder if something like l-glutamine between meals might make her tummy feel better. I would have suggested probitics, but you are already giving some. Poor Cooper, poor you! I know how difficult this is. Max was also one thing after another, and very very expensive when I couldn't afford it. I worry about infection or SIBO for some reason with him. I will have to go back and look at his blood counts. I think you are already adding things in to entice him to eat? Australia	Well maybe he is just being a womble like normal...I took him into the vets and he weighs 34.9 kg (the most he has ever weighed)! Alison found this food for Quynne so I ordered some last night to try as a supplement. http://www.petbarn.com.au/dogs/dog-food-...-food-200g.html This was from luchtime today and it's nothing to do with a great 'leave it command' he simply didn't want to eat. The raw is better than the canned that I'm feeding, but Jazz won't eat raw I thought this would be good to put in this thread. Should I go back to the chicken and rice just because she will eat it better? I read the article and I think I will introduce more types of food to her. Is there any kinds of foods that are a no no? Adding and switching foods can cause serious diarrhea and digestive issues in a healthy, well dog, let alone a very sick, weak puppy who is so small and anemic. So, here is my suggestion: Find a premade raw such as K9 Kraving, Bravo, Primal, Stella & Chewy's, Oma's Pride, etc. Buy only ONE protein source-- such as chicken or turkey. The amount to feed is found on the package or it is found here on this table. http://www.primalpetfoods.com/education/calc Warm the food in a ziplock baggie in a bowl of warm water for 15 minutes before feeding her. Add some probiotics to her meal. The vet can sell you FortiFlora, because she is too ill to try yogurt, as some dairy can be tough for some dogs to digest. I am wishing you and Bear all the best! Since March, however, her weight has dropped down to 69 and stayed there. That is not a bad weight for her but I don't want it to drop any lower. To that end I have recently added canned dog food. She tolerates it well and varieties don't cause any problems. So, finally, my question. How long is it safe to allow the canned food to sit in the bowl before worrying about spoilage? I have been taking it up, covering it and putting it in the refrigerator if she doesn't eat it within a half hour.... then taking it out a few hours later and repeating the cycle. I don't really know, though I know with Jazz, 1/2 hour is too long - she won't eat it after it's been out that long. Well, unless I forgot it, and it's bee 8-9 hours and probably has something toxic growing in it, then she'll eat it (the weight issue is common with TBDs ) I found with Jazz, after trying many things, grinding berries with her food is helping a lot now. Have no clue how long it will last. She does well on strawberries and blackberries. Terrible on apricots. Very happy to have discovered this, since it's a healthy option that her gut seems to tolerate. jlstudent1970 Member J Joined: Jul 2016 Posts: 150	Hi I am new here and I wanted to make a suggestion, I know dogs love baby food, they have chicken, beef, turkey and look for the infant ones because it is just beef or just chicken with no onions or veggies in it. Put a teaspoon or 2 in their food, see if that helps.
