LOL, I know, yet another fear! But at least this one is a very reasonable fear.

No, it wasn't me, at least this time. After the wasp in the car, she didn't want to go in the back seat for awhile, I did ignore that one. I do teach her in the yard, that those buzzing bees she tries to eat are dangerous, so she must have been freaking a bit when it was in the back with her.

With the fly, I just told her it was a fly, it's okay, and, you're right, part of the key is to not react, and just let it go.

She's also a bit afraid of the dark.....

Not much happened when Elsa got stung...you could tell she was like "ah, what the bleep is going on" and was shaking...but not too much swelling and was over it. I Since it was stinging on her neck area I don't think it got a full sting in really since she has so much hair in that area.

Maggie, our Dal, was extremely allergic to bug bites/stings. A spider bite/bee/wasp sting would actually give her a seizure, lasting about 10 min, then she'd be wobbly/out of it for an hour or so. I think they have different reactions just like people.

Hope she overcomes her flying bug fear!

Tanja (45 lbs) stepped into a wasp once, and was crying, shaking, and completely upset. It must be very painful b/c a paw is such a small area and the swelling cannot spread out. Dogs differ in sensitivity to pain, too. And Tanja in general was a very sensitive dog. She needed to be in a dark room afterwards, couldn't bear light, and I held her and comforted her for I don't remember how long. And put the paw in and out of a cup of ice water.

I kinda like it when they are afraid enough of buzzing thingies in the air to leave them alone. I don't know how good their taxonomic skills can become, and how much painful experience it takes, for them to learn to distinguish between a fly and a stinging insect.

Are there EPI pens for allergic dogs? I doubt it.

Bee sting part two, I think the same paw, not sure, had to come check on what happened last time. Luckily I had some benedryl in my purse (for just this reason), need to get home and ice and Apis.

I have her little paw packed with baking soda, and it seems to be finally ettling some. Poor thing.
