We can all say it was a big mistake to put the dog in that situation, for the poor reporter not to know how to act around dogs but my take is 1. How could the owner say no? He would appear very ungrateful & inappreciative. I bet few of us would think, given that situation, "No my dog can't handle that right now." 2. How many of us are quick enough to spot a situation going down & interfear before it gets really bad? Even if you are uneasy, you don't want to make your dog seem misadjusted. 3. Yes, people who are going to interact with a strange dog should be coached on how to do it. Lots of things should happen that don't. So it is very sad all around. I feel bad for everyone involved and the dog.
