It has been 13 years and nearly 8 months and tonight is the first night a Husky will not be sleeping with the Paq. In late August Lakota let me know the queen was "tired" and ready to go be with her King, Chimo. She let me know her work was done and Jethro and Keyzah were the final jewels in her Crown. She was the quiet leader and foundation layer for the Paq. Even though she only "mothered" one of the Paq she raised all except Chimo from pups. She guided and molded them all into the awesome dogs they became. She had worked tirelessly molding and shaping each one. Her work was done, she was tired. She bid her "kids" ado and went peacefully.

For the last 2 plus months since Lakota passed Kanuck had tried to push on, past the fears the were in his head pretty much his entire life. Alas without the strength of his Mother, Chimo and KC his fears simply got the better of him. He could no longer handle the stress of life without Mom. Kanuck was complex but charming. Everyone that met him simply wanted to hug him, but to do so would have stressed him. He only ever really sought attention from a few people and even though I was his caretaker his entire life, I was rarely one of them. He wanted to love and to be loved but he never knew how to love or be loved. And if one tried to show him love (pet him, and many times even making gentle eye contact with him) was enough to make him dart from the room or completely tense up. The one person on this earth who he truly loved and would purposefully seek out when we visited their home (or he was at mine) was my Dad. I am sure Dad was there with Lakota, Chimo and KC (Kanucks rocks) to welcome him to the land of peace this evening.

And my handsome yet troubled boy. I hope he has finally found peace this evening.

Ruqs, I am sorry for your loss of Nukie. We try so hard to help those dogs who have troubles coping with the world around them. But we can only do so much and we don't speak dog or are even their security blanket when they were with us. But that doesn't lessen the pain.

Handsome boy I hope you are reunited with your anchors and that now you can show them that you are healthy. Play and run like the wind.

Sitting here typing through tears for you, for Nukie, for the demons in his head which now I hope are gone. What a rough time you've had, Ruq.
