I've had dogs my entire life, never had a dog with heartworms, but when you see this process spelled out...well it makes it so clear just how important the preventative is. It really is something to read & see. Your sense of humor sprinkled in with all that info is perfect.
I'm sorry you have to go through all this Miss Mila Monster. hugging I'm thrilled to see you continue to live up to your name! Someday soon your person will find you & appreciate your unique personality. crossedfingers

p.s. I love love Dr Bruno too!!! wub

I am glad to hear that she is doing well, sorry to hear that she hasn't found her forever home yet though. Good things take time?

http://bigdogsbigheartworm.blogspot.com/2011/10/this-just-in-immiticide-sort-of.html

So there is some Immiticide coming in from Europe to be triaged to the neediest dogs.

Thank you FOTF! I had no idea either until I fostered a dog - and even then didn't understand. Actually, reading this stuff for the blog is helping me to understand now some of the stuff I had read before and didn't get at all.

Mila Monster and Bruno got to hang out a bit again today. She's all flirty and he tolerates it, she goes out to potty and he hides under a chair. She comes in like where is Dr. Bruno??? It's sweet - he is trying - he just doesn't like her to get so up in his business. She's so adorable.

Yep, you're right, good things take time. Luka, Dylan both took quite a long time and she's older so has that "against" her. Even Rosa, for a baby puppy took a while due to her illness. Mila's just waiting for that person who needs her like their people did.

I see from the blog that Mila's heartworm treatment is finished. How is she doing now?

I can picture Bruno hiding under the chair. Cracks me up!

http://thebark.com/content/big-dog-no-heartworm Mila is back in the Bark!

Thank you very much for checking on Mila! I have been busy trying to keep up with work and trying to not get distracted on forums. Yeeks.

Mila is going to head out to Meet/Greet in a bit as we work on getting her back into the swing of things. She is definitely getting back to her pushy/happy self, which is great to see, although slightly exhausting wink as I try to keep up with her!

Miss Mila Monster (I love that name) is 9.5 yo. She and Bella have April birthdays.

From Lisa Wogan in The Bark:

"I’m awestruck by all that Jean has done to create a second chapter for Mila"

Wow-someone may have recognized that Mila is their new dog.

If it is the right match-someone will be happy with their handful!

I love The Bark magazine and loved the comments by Lisa in the article!

I hope this chance for a forever home works for Mila out.

And Dr Bruno - great mention of you as well!

Ahhhhhhhhhhh! My SmartDog (iDog? iFoster? iMila?) is highly disturbed about the daylight savings time and she is not afraid to let us all know that she is! I took her outside a lot today to try to tire her, but it is almost an hour past our bedtime potty! And supper was late! She is NOT amused.

I did not have her last year at this time, so good to know. And the spring one wasn't traumatic like this.

I took some pictures of her today - I will post them another time when I remember to get the card out of the camera.

That was a really nice article in the Bark blog. I was so happy that they did so much to promote heartworm stuff. Hopefully it will be something people can find and use for prevention, education, etc. ETA- I love that she referenced Dr. Bruno. wub He has literally saved at least 2 fosters that I can think of by relentlessly barking at them to indicate to me that they were sick or by pulling his ears back and refusing to look at them/go near them. One who was an overnight (HA!) on a transport with pneumonia that was hospitalized for a week and Kyah.

Yes, all fingers are crossed here through the lengthy process! Thank you to the friends of Mila Monster for your concern for her throughout!

Respect the process, even if it is lengthy!!

LOL, so funny about Mila and the time change....she does not like getting her dinner late!! Have you been too punctual in your feeding Jean? When I first got Indy, one thing I read is that if you feed each day at the same time, they will get in that habit and definitely expect it. LOL, around here, they never know what time they will get fed, my schedule is so goofy - maybe a good thing!
