We're home! Nothing like a bajillion hour car ride with two dogs that don't like the car! He won't sit up and she won't lay down. The first 10 minutes were horrible! We took a wrong turn leaving the hotel and went in a big slow circle. Steel does not like slow. My DD drove, my DH was co-pilot, I sat with Steel in the middle seat and Mila sat in the 3rd seat. She was shaking so much I climbed over the seat to sit with her and she climbed over and sat with Steel. *sigh* She was trying to get into the front seat so I climbed back over and she sat on my lap. I figured she either wanted to sit in the front seat or she wanted to sit with my DH. We stopped and changed seats so he was in the 3rd seat with Mila. Happiness. The fussing stopped.

Steel slept like this for about 2 hours. He was so tired.

I was worried about feeding Mila kibble tonight, so she had Steel's cooked food. She burped after so I guess it was good?

Oh man, what a LONG day. That pic of poor Steel! Mila loks like she is just checking things out...hope the first night goes well. The added benefit, they should be exhausted!

SQUEEEEEEE! Pictures already! She looks so pretty. Steel! Poor guy. And he probably misses his mirror.

I rofl reading about your attempts to do every possible driving configuration! Wow, she is so lucky. I cannot get over how much she likes her new dad - I was actually worried that she wouldn't feel comfortable with him. Ha!

You know I was going to say go out and to the left when you leave, but I said no, compulsivemarthastewart, shut up, they have GPS.

BTW - my dogs are very concerned because the town crier is not here to alert me to things we need to do - Ava practically threw herself on me at 7:01 for supper. In her defense, I was a minute late.

I think that every time I feel a little sad, I am going to come read some of Mila's Journey and jump to the wonderful ending.

Joan, Johann and family, Rocco and all the doctors along the way. It takes a lot of people (and sometimes other dogs) work, time, dedication and trust to find a deserving dog a home and this time it happened.

Thank you to all involved with Mila. To get to continue seeing her is the icing on the cake!

Bonnie's right. It's amazing to go back to Jean's first post about Bella's long-lost sister who herself lost her person. Now we have Joanne and Steel with a nod from Lady Jane adding to their family as in serving breakfast to a beaming healthy Mila in her PJs.

Wonderful story starring some great people and dogs and contributions by BDBH.

It goes without saying that we will need frequent updates.

Just returned from Ontario and really enjoyed reading this whole story. Talk about happy endings and wonderful beginnings...I certainly couldn't think of a better forever home for Miss Mila and it sounds and looks like she fully appreciates her new family. wub

Mila chased two squirrels today. For an older gal with wonky legs, she sure can run. She jumped up on the fence with her front legs too!
