How sad to see how she has aged. The difference between a loved dog and one that has no real home. I hope she finds one soon.

Or a really good foster home. (Jean) whistling

Jean, what is her status? Where is she?

She is still at my vet office - the whole Mariele wub thing kind of threw me off. She and Mariele met through the kennel while I was there without any issues, and the staff at the vet office said she's doing really well. She's had a bath, which...was more than needed. The problem, in addition to her age, for a rescue with a number of special needs dogs already is that she has eye issues and unknown (front legs) and known (HD) ortho issues. Blah.

I know, katieliz, can you believe she's only 8.5?

The people won't take her back?

She sounds like a nice dog with some typical (and atypical?) health issues. The people probably didn't know how to handle her. frown

She's living outside in a kennel by herself there...so....

frown

And I don't think she does have those issues - like you said - I think she may have not THE best temperament, but she's been wonderful at the vet office with the receptionists (who brought her up front on Saturday to hang out) and the kennel ladies - they have done everything to her and she's been great.

Oh that's ridiculous. An outside kennel? No wonder she looks so old and worried. That just stinks. frown

I know. frown

She's a chatterer - both talky and that choppa choppa thing with the teeth. A lot of personality!

Those are her legs. The one vet looked at them and said that her ligaments are loose - and if he had to guess why it could be because she was overweight (she's down to 66# now so that's good but was at least 20# heavier as recently as April), even though we don't think she lived in a kennel, we don't know...and don't know how active she was, and he also thought possibly poor nutrition - well fed, but not fed well. Also the propensity for this to happen has to figure in there.

One toe actually sticks up like she's drinking tea. Like no ligament connection...

Interesting right? Any thoughts? I googled and must not be using the right words.

VERY interesting - thanks Val!

So I wonder, has the low protein ship sailed for an 8.5 yo dog?

I can't quite put my finger on what name would fit her well. I think something wise and majestic needs to be considered though. She seems to be an old very wise and deep soul. If there is one thing I am bad at it is naming female dogs. The boys are always so much easier :p
