When I had crate rest for my leg Sarah said I should be l-a-n-g-s-a-m. That's German. Trouble was, I didn't even know what the English word for it, s-l-o-w, meant!
Get well, Mila. May I call you Grannie Mila?

Hmmmm...perhaps Grimmi could send something else? wink grin Thanks though - I am hoping we move along as well.

Dear Chippy,
You may call me Auntie - I am pretty sure I am not old enough to be a grandmother. Of course we know my spinster sister Bella never had puppies, so it would be nice to be SOMEONE's Aunt. And you are one of the cutest things I have ever seen in all my days.
Love -
Auntie Mila

Knock wood!

rofl My doggie group home. I really loved my first job - intensive treatment unit with 8 adjudicated male adolescents. It was like being in charge of a pack. I like my current pack much better. laugh

So today there was relief from the heat and the humidity and it felt so good to all of us - my own dogs were able to play.

With the HW tx they need to be kept cool so they don't get all pant-y and blood rush-y with the embolism risk, but today, we were able to go out under a tree and just sit. Mila enjoyed it so much. Tomorrow is also supposed to be nice - I told her we won't be able to do this every day but when we can, we will.

Forgot the silly pic!

I am SO glad she does. She is like a one dog cheerleader squad. I posted a second picture while you were posting.

Also - today Bruno was out - she just loves him, and does the exact same "slut dance" in front of him that Bella does.

Thanks Leah! It was slow because I started too soon - so I had to do a lot of filler! It was because I was so afraid to start the tx with her level of energy and activity.

But there is so much information and I keep finding so much stuff. I found scary things again tonight. I figure if one person reads it and can get someone to test their dog and start the meds, it's worth it.

Very excited to announce!

http://thebark.com/content/big-dog-big-heartworm

Mila's a star!

ETA - They are also going to put it on their Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/BarkMagazine

Joanne - It's so funny to see that both girls have the same dance. And Bruno stands there - he just wants to spend time with his cats.

That's great Jean! I passed the blog along to someone that has a HW+ rescue that just came in. Great blog, but now you gotta keep it current!

Making me a little nervous! A lot - because I say some weird stuff in the blog, to keep myself amused, and realized now that there are actually going to be more than us reading it! rofl

Thank you for passing it along Lisa. I hope it helps. What I noticed is that vets and websites start talking about the L3, the microfillaria, adultcide, etc, and it helps to have an idea of what they mean! Plus I want to people see that honkin' big needle going in her back.

It was weird - when she got diagnosed, I got ticked off that she was going to have to deal with this when she was just starting to enjoy herself, was going to get her braces, etc. I started googling for blogs on HW and didn't see many, but they had a one page post on the Bark blog on one that was complicated. frown Luckily the dog was okay. So I just emailed them, like oh, sure, they'll get right back to a crazy dog lady. But they did. I was shocked. Then they were interested...even more shocking. They have been really nice/helpful. They even put the link to BDBH in which was awesome. I am so appreciative.

I put a funny caption (I think) under Mila's picture on my thank you post. It just seemed to fit her.

We had a nice day again - cool - so I brushed her and she was so happy to sit in the shade and was even quiet for it. She's a best friend kind of dog.

Only our vets see us as crazy dog ladies. To the rest of the doggy world, I think we're normal. Besides, better to be a crazy dog lady than a crazy cat lady.

Dear Auntie Mila,

Thank you for letting me call you Auntie. And for calling me cute. I am sorry you got stung in your back so bad. That must hurt some fierce. And the crate rest. Hang in there, and I hope you feel better very soon!

I am sorry you didn't get the HW pills your previous human hunted for you. My monthly HW pill is so yummie I wish I could get it every day! Not one of these icky pills hidden in cheese and the icky flavor hits ya as you swallow. Nope, really tasty!

Love from
Chippy
