attack rats and a rogue cat!

Yesterday Otto and I took the kids to school and went for a long walk. I'm tired, it's gotten hot, I just wanted a shower and to start work. Can't even walk home down my street because there's a Mexican attack rat, a Maltese and their hench-cat coming at me like they want to kill my dog.

Today, I figure I'll walk by that house on the way TO school, half an hour earlier, maybe they won't be loose. I know the people who own them. They have a very small yard and 2 real dogs who live in the back. Not sure the big dogs ever go in the house. It's a very small house, 900 sq feet if it's lucky and they have 3 kids jammed in there too.

We get like 3 houses before the attack rats house, they're charging at me, the kids and Morgan. I should be able to walk my kids to school right?

So I'm yelling for her, she's in her nightgown calling them but they don't listen.

Finally the husband comes out, no shirt on his big hairy moobs and back. He gets the maltese, the wife picks the mexican attack rat up by the scruff of his neck. She's holding the dog off the ground by the scruff when I walk by.

So I told her, Diane, I need to get my kids to school. This happened yesterday too and it isn't going to end well if one of my dogs gets a hold of those dogs.

Half hearted sorry from her. Nothing from the husband. See the next time I go in THEIR store to buy anything.

And I can't call animal control becuase they'll know who did it.

Maybe I need to put the lady across the street up to it. She had shepherds for years. I can't imagine she likes hearing all that yapping. Every time I go by the house, the big dogs woof hello but the little rats sound like they're killing eachother inside. Too many dogs!

Anyway, thank you for letting me rant. Little ****ing attack rats.

Can you get a can of bear spray? Nail the little buggers from 30' away, that should make them think twice the next time.

Wonder how far a Mexican attack rat would fly after a shock with one of those?

Tomorrow I might let my boys poke them with sticks. James and his mouth, he told Diane off and called her little attack rats all kinds of names.

I wouldn't even know where to get bear spray. We have one wild bear in the whole state of RI. He's often on the news... We can't even carry pepper spray here. I've been known to carry hair spray because nobody's going to even try to tell these big haired italien chicks here that they can't carry it.

If you are the hair spray kick..try the pump spray kind and dump it into a household spray bottle and put it to stream...works well with citronella spray too.

Too bad pepper spray is illegal in RI...I have a couple of cans that left with me when I changed agencies. We carry expandable batons with my new agency. I just might have an extra one of those in my inventory here and they aren't accountable items...

I too have been charged by attack rats (one time two chi's and another time by a group of maltese looking small dogs). Both times, no owners in sight. So, I feel your pain.

A water gun might work too.

We have some of those in our neighborhood. One for sure that is ALWAYS off leash. After 5 years of repeated (aggressive) encounters, I started calling AC because the people think it is ok and have witnessed this. I feel stupid calling AC on a little chihuaha, but hey, it's the law.

The other day we had gotten about 2 doors down from the dog's house and he was not out. About two houses later, I hear high pitched barking and turn around and he's gunning it across the street right towards us and growling and hackles up. I'd just about had enough and I turned around, grabbed Siena and said "come on, let's go" and started stomping my feet and screaming at the top of my lungs "go home, cashew" and he stopped, but continued to be the way he is, so I started towards him all the meanwhile stomping and yelling. After about ten feet, he turned around and hightailed it back to his yard. I ended up back in front of his house (still yelling) and told him to stay there.

Then we turned and walked away and didn't come at us again. I'll be curious if he charges me 'the crazy woman' and Siena 'the bucking bronco' next time. It was effective for sure and certainly easier than hurting my back trying to control Siena. If it were a massive dog, not sure I would have handled it that way, but it's not and I'm sick and tired of it.

I say, call AC. If they don't act, then they deserve what they get. Someone is gonna get hurt if it continues. It's for their own good, really.

Why not call AC IFFF it keeps happening? So what if the owners know?

I had repeated encounters w/ an aggressive Golden that was running loose a few houses down the street on my way to work. The dog went after Feli but also brushed my hand once with her teeth. I could yell her off but what a hassle. Four times I addressed it with the owner. The fifth time I told her I had enough of trying to reason with her and this time I'd call the ACO. And that's exactly what I did, from my cell, on the spot. The ACO came by and resolved it. No fine, just a lecture and a warning. It worked. I loathe people who need someone in uniform to tell them but such is life...

Moobs!!!! I love it. I was once walking my Shepherd Radar and an attack rat, off leash, came flying at us. We ran, but I have a big butt and am slow. The attack rat caught up to us! It came flying at my leg as I moved in front of Radar to protect him. The rat got a mouthful of denim before Radar bit it in half. I was speechless. I felt terrible for the owner, right up to the point where she started screaming at me for "not controlling my dog".

What an A-- H---! I'm sorry for the dog. But the owner is totaly off the wall!
