Thanks all. Very much!

Mila Monster! Perfect! I wish I could take a video of her on the scale at the vet. I don't know what happened in her past or if this is a new thing, but she spins and dances and air snaps at me. So, perfect behavior for a dog on activity restriction. Ay yi yi.

Kind of a better safe than sorry visit I am hoping. Blood work straight down the middle. No temp. Obviously, even though she's not feeling well, still has some energy.

She got half a bag of sub q fluids and a shot of Cerenia. She probably would have gotten more if she had held still. Instead fluids were spraying...I think if I had not been in the room she would have been much better.

On bland, starting later this afternoon, and restricted water too. KW this will all work. smile Thanks again!

I hope she gets to feeling better very soon!!

And I want to say again how very much I have enjoyed reading her blog. I have learned a TON about heartworm and it is an excellent reference source. I plan on letting my vet know about it the next time we go in for routine maintenance, and tell her what a great way it is to teach her patients' families about heartworm prevention and treatment.

And I have always enjoyed your writing style. smile

Sending healing vibes to Miss Mila Monster!

Wow thank you Leah! That was the second thing you said that made my day! smile

I tried to take pics of the Mila Monster ( rofl ) getting fluids today for the blog, but apparently that was not allowed by her. What I love about Mila is that she is so bossy, but when I take her places she is SO sweet to people. I like aloof dogs, but have to say she's a treat. And she is a total Gladys Kravitz.

I want a supply of Cerenia! KW she seems well. Ate 2 bland meals. Had a bedtime treat and her cream cheese pills. Drank less than she wanted. Attitude is good. She wags her tail while I get her pill ready - it is adorable.

Thanks for checking on her.

Jean, Cerenia is great stuff my second Siamese use to get this quite often. It really worked to settle his tummy.

So today again, Miss Mila was not being monstrous - kind of slow, not really drinking with enthusiasm, which yesterday I figured was from eating real food and not kibble, and then she refused breakfast. Chicken soup!

So back to the vet - no temp, we did not do the blood work again, even though it was scary good (her vet said maybe TOO good paranoid2 ), heart rate good, not dehydrated, gums good, just off. He thinks, I agree, the worms dying off are making her a bit sick. frown

He said pred, I think thinking I might protest, but after Kramer's stint with it, and seeing Quincey, when it's indicated, it works great. And they do use it in HW tx when the dog is not feeling well.

At home I gave her the pred in canned dog food, which apparently she likes better than home cooking. So that's easier! She didn't eat a lot, but she ate. And drank a bit. Then Bruno snuck out and wub was in the air. On her part anyway. So I saw how perked up she was and decided to go with it, and let her visit with him a bit, and took him outside with her for her potties. Her standing there, him trotting around, but it was still a treat for her.

Offered a meal with her chicken mixed in with canned and she picked the chicken out, ate around that and left some canned that was too contaminated. For supper she ate all her canned - it was not a lot (I have no idea how much canned to feed when that's all you feed help is it like on the bag - not as much as they tell you?) but I am glad she finished it, with some water in it.

I need to keep giving her some level of tram/traz so as not to stop it cold, so I am doing a big reduction of those.

He said it would take a day or so to see the pred kick in and to call tomorrow with an update.

So I complain for months about trying to keep her quiet and when she is, I freak out! wink

Come on, your Mila Monster (really great phrase) changed her behavior and you don't like it. Now you entertain all the reasons for the change.

I can't add anything about whether it's a cause for concern or not.

I can just say that anybody would be lucky to have someone care so much.

all of you, get some rest,
MJ

So, Mila's got scrumptuous homecooked cuisine, and a date with an intense, dark, short-but-handsome, formally-attired, good-looking MC? wub Did he bring her vaseroses? Paws are crossed here that Mila is just responding a bit to the worms dying off, and that she'll be back to her snazzy self very soon. crossedfingers

I know Mary Jane! She's probably thinking this lady is off her rocker!

I do love her - she has something - well, they all do don't they? This is why I can't step foot in a shelter.

rofl Yep, the date is set, they've both been told in a few weeks they will have a chaperoned (the girls at the vet office said that) date. I am thinking after she goes to the groomer so she will be all purtied up.

He didn't bring her flowers but he did try to eat some of her canned food? Is that romantic? He's no Tramp, nudging the meatball at her, that's for sure; that meatball would be history if Bruno was near it.

She almost peed in the house on the way out the door, so the pred is kicking in. She had her second pill of it, and ate some treats so that's good. Had a poop so that's also good.

Thanks guys so much. This tx is really dragging isn't it!?!?

Oh Mila! I cried when your update tonight Jean. Guess I'm kinda emotional! Pred can be a good thing. I think it's hilarious that she prefers the canned food to the home cooked, and eating around the contaminated food. So funny!

Feel better Mila!

Ya know, I only look at rescue sites that don't adopt out of their area. It's safer that way!

Jean, sure am hoping that this is just a short lull. You know me, I hate that pred stuff, but it has it's place frown

What is the theory of using it during HW tx?

Any chance she's just depressed? Or the tram/traz has been messing with her?
