Ok...seriously...you'd never know she had surgery...she's like the bionic dog...better than before...LOL.

We have poop discharge papers said common not to have a bowel movement for 5-7 days.

The only problem we're having is that darn cone...she's totally miserable with it...and CANNOT come up the stairs with it on...so we have to remove it.

Breathing is great smile

Good for all of you!

Ava is a danger to herself and others with the cone, but when she first came home she had it on in her crate and off when she got out (to potty).

They told me yesterday that good cone compliance is huge for the incision. But she's not going to be able to lick it on the stairs!

There is no way the cone is coming off...except coming up the stairs...lol. Learned that lesson the hard way. Mya had her dew claws off...we went for weeks for that cone on...had the staples removed...and the vet said...eh maybe keep it on a few more days. Well..feeling like the poor dog needed a break already...I took it off one time so she could eat in comfort...and got distracted...and before you knew it...she had ripped both legs open...and we had to have them restapled and start all over.

Compliant is Cheyenne's middle name...she just accepted it right off...just not thrilled...keeps getting caught on everything...poor thing...but she's getting better...lol

I hate the hard plastic cones frown Every time one of the dogs need one I end up hearing it scrap up and down the hallway walls, rammed into door frames, and I get nasty bruises on my thighs where they bump me. I have never had a dog with the soft cone but my cat did great with it. He had the ball socket of his hip removed after it was broken off in a horrible doggie induced accident. He was in a crate for 6 weeks with that soft cone at 6 months old. He only began to realize how to flip it to be able to lick his hip during the last week. Poor Chey I always feel like they think they are wearing a dunce cap with those cones.

Wonderful Chey, so glad that you came through surgery with flying colors and you are home where you belong.

Home, that sounds wonderful, doesn't it Chey? You never imagined that life could be so wonderful? I'm so glad that you found your HOME, where you recovered, and you were able to become the dog that you were meant to be, and such a wondeful family to be with, and to share with.

You must feel like a million bucks, even with all those staples and that silly cone. You will be back in hats and taking walks soon.

I'm so glad your surgery went well, you are so loved wub

Don't those cones come in purple?? That would make her feel at home. All the best with this great news and she looks wonderful. Thanks for the updates.

I bet everybody got a good night's sleep at the Mary Ann house. There's nothing like having everybody safe at home.

Good morning,
MJ

Good Morning!!

Wow...she's unbelievable...you'd never know she had any surgery!! She is definitely one tough old gal!! I actually gave her the extra pain med last night (one is mandatory...one is as needed)...just so she laid down for a loong deep recuperating rest.

Good Morning to you and Cheyenne.

How would Cheyenne be any thing but Wonderful. She knows a good thing when she has it. I am sure she is like hey that big ugly thing they called a tumor is gone, they also took out some other unneeded stuff, so I feel pretty darn good.

This is just awesome....Cheyenne is just awesome....I am just getting caught up on this thread and Cheyenne and her story never fails to bring happy tears to my eyes. Her story is SO uplifting and Cheyenne is just one amazing girl. Just goes to show what good care and most importantly, LOVE can do to mend the sick, broken hearted girl she was and make her into the gorgeous, strong girl she is today. Love you Chey! Thank you for being you!!!!!!!! party

Found Cheyenne sleeping this morning...all cozy in her bed...with her cone on....
..............walked in the next room and saw her t-shirt (even still knotted) on the floor.

Can someone tell me how she did that? thinking
