hugging It is very, very difficult to have any kind of perspective, much less equanimity, at this point, even without other stressors in your life.
Just keep looking into her eyes and you will know when it's time. Cleo was a fighter too, as you know, and then finally it was clear. Sending all good thoughts and strength and peace of mind your way. You have never let this dog down and she knows that. She has enjoyed the most amazing life with you and your family. You are all very lucky people. hugging

hugging I can't add much to what Ruth said so perfectly.

Take care of yourself and take a little break now and then. Caregivers need R&R.

Cheyenne has perfect confidence in you, you've earned it. Your judgment has proven to be right for her since she first came to you (for hospice, wasn't it?). Your judgment won't fail her now.

The antibiotic might be Zeniquin? It's a more powerful Cipro.

It's terrible when the body gives before the spirit hugging

I hope the new ABX helps. I am worried that she might have the Big C some place in her body that is causing the immune system to be so weak. I saw that with Lakota, as long as he was on ABX the skin issue was under control. as soon as he would go off it was back in a matter of days. I know this isn't any thing you want to hear, so hoping the the new ABX helps with the skin infection, so she has more energy to move around.

UGH...explosive diarrhea all day today...don't ask...

The antibiotic is Azithromycin.

I almost called the vet today to tell him that there is NO WAY I can give this antibiotic anymore since today was so...so...ARGH!

BUT...then I realized I put a powder in her food last night to entice her to eat (nature's variety raw supplement I found on my shelf). It was in a mindless moment of desperation to get her to eat her dinner last night...not even thinking how it might affect her. See...that's how delirious I am! So..that could very well be the culprit! She's on chicken and rice and I will try the antibiotic a little longer.

I know Val...a long time ago that was brought up as a possibility. frown I guess...I just don't even want to know. I hope she gets some relief...but after all these months of trying...I'm not very hopeful. We'll see what this new antibiotic brings.

myamom— hugs. How is Cheyenne doing today with the diarrhea and how is she feeling? INCASE no one has told you lately, it’s an amazing how much you are doing for her and with her, true love and devotion. I’m offering my heartfelt prayers for continued strength and for her to get well, hugs.

OK, so I did check and one of the symptoms of Azithromycin can be diarrhea.

Having two pups that react to antibiotics negatively, I can feel for you both because it is hard, really hard.

We’ve used NV before and haven’t had a problem, however… that’s just us and I don’t think it was wrong to give it, here is the link to their raw supplement maybe it might show a trigger?? NV Boost

Two things recommended here, and have worked for us: The Honest Kitchen, Perfect Form to help make the stool firm. Slippery Elm Bark (Nature’s Way) helps with nausea and vomiting (bile). I just don't know if either can be used for Cheyenne.

Thank you!!! It was so stupid to start two new things in one day...just wasn't thinking! Now I'm not sure which affected her! I'm going to try to stay on the antibiotic and take measures to counter diarrhea.

Today hasn't started well...just couldn't get her up..and moving her caused labored breathing. I have her laying out on the deck right now to get fresh air. I just don't know...

Last night was the first time I saw her get up on her own..and I was elated...and now today...just worse than ever.

Thank you for the hugs...really need them!

Mary Ann, let's hope the Diarrhea is food related not ABX related.

Sending some healing and strength vibes to Cheyenne, I can spare a little of my energies for you sweetie. Fight this bug. Hopefully the new Meds you momma got didn't cause the tummy upset. I think Momma needs to make some chicken soup for you and her, I think you both need some comfort food.

I hope the sun is shining on you out on the deck today and you gather some strength from it.

Mary Ann, I wish I had some great words of wisdom and advice, all I can do is type some words of support.

hugging hugging hugging Mary Ann, you are doing the very best that you can for dear Cheyenne. Your love is beaming to her, even as you make each decision for her care, the best that you are able. Cheyenne feels so deeply cherished right now. Please take extra good care of yourself right now. Praying the diarrhea clears up and that her gut settles gently.

Mary Ann,

I'm sending all the wishes I can that Cheyenne's gut calms down and she can keep something down. If there is any way possible, I hope you too can have a moment of calm. For what it's worth, people who love dignified ladies in purple are right there with you.

Mary Ann, my heart is breaking for you. You have been such an inspiration for all of us. You have fought so hard for her survival from day one. You have been there for her and she knows the love you have for her. I know the day I called you, years ago, when she was having some major problems, and the vet basicly suggested to put her down, they couldn't do anything else. We talked and we both agreed you should continue to fight for her and you did, and she improved then. I know you are a strong woman, and you have been by her side always. My prayers are for Cheyenne, you and your whole family. Praying she will improve again. She is still beautiful and Cain still loves her dearly. Hugs to you all from me and Cain.
Hang in there my friend.

Oh stop...you are all making me cry!! I couldn't have sweeter friends..honestly I don't know what I would have done without all of you! Thank you for sticking with us on this journey, we could not have done it without you!

I keep holding off...I know she's near the end...but honestly...I've never "planned" a euthanization....and I don't know how to say...now. I've always been in the middle of an urgent situation in the past...where it was clear cut. I keep hoping for the day I know for sure.

Again..thank you to EACH AND EVERY ONE...on the board...those that have called/written privately. Thank you to Jax for spending the day with me today to cheer me up and visit with Chey....it was much needed!

Kisses to Cain!
