I have just spent the last 2 hours reading every single page of this thread. MaryAnn, I just have to say you are the most wonderful person for everything you have done Cheyenne. The world needs more people like you.

I have cried and smiled my way thru this whole thread this morning. And I will continue to watch this thread daily and have you and Cheyenne in my prayers as her surgery date approaches. hugging

Mary Ann,

I love all the latest photos and of course, the latest update from the surgeon.

Cheyenne looks like she is living her life to the fullest and your family are loving her and providing her with everything she could ever possibly need or want in her retirement. It doesn't get much better than that.

I'll be thinking of all of you as her surgery nears.

More pictures! We want more!

She is a famous, happy girl. I always read Val's posts as if that is what the dog is saying, Patti's too.

So great to see her and will be keeping her in all our hearts as we get closer to the surgery.

Thank you Leigh for taking the time to read her story! Thank you for your kind words...you're very sweet.

Thank you everyone to continuing to think of Cheyenne and send good thoughts and prayers. I'm scared...and now focusing on every cough..every move she makes...just so worried that she will be healthy enough to go through surgery. I started on the chicken soup again...but in my zeal...over did it...and it wasn't pretty...lol. Will have to back off a little. I know...deep breaths.

I've been told over and over...God has a plan here..no matter what happens...it's his plan and his hand in this. I just need to keep repeating that.

I'll focus on posting happy pictures and vid's...wait until you see how we taught this GA girl how to swim...kinda...lol.

MaryAnn, yes deep breaths. Cheyenne is miles ahead in the health department than she was when you got her. So while I am sure the surgery is going to tax her body, it is some thing she will recover from. The day in and day out discomfort and pressure from the tumors is dragging her down. Plus how that she is healthier the heat cycles aren't helping either. So more deep breathing, this is a GOOD thing, this is a GOOD thing. We will be here to worry with you.

Mary Ann - did you get your wine yet? What time would you like to 'get together' in cyberspace and have that drink tonight? Anyone else want to join? I'm going to open one of my bottles of Cheyennes wine tonight and have a couple of drinks with Mary Ann to calm her nerves for tomorrow's surgery. hugging

My nerves are in overdrive. I didn't want to upset anyone here...so I haven't said anything earlier.... Cheyenne developed coughing and labored breathing over the weekend. I met with my vet Monday...and he basically attacked this from every angle...antibiotics for URI...upped diuretics in case heart related. I went again today and had chest x-rays done...which are still clear...so no fluid in lungs...and still clear for mets. Showed a slight increase in heart enlargement on the right. Could be due to damage from her hw disease....i.e. enlarged valve pressing...etc....no definitive answer.

Coughing/breathing could be due to that...or a URI...or both. I did notice some improvement with the antibiotic. Both vets I met with today are still encouraging me to go forward tomorrow...that she may be worse in the future if I delay..breathing wise......that the tumor will be worse...
They feel as long as no fluid in lungs...she should still have the surgery. They both spoke very highly of the surgeon and said whatever he says they would be confident in...and that he certainly would not operate on a dog that should not be operated on at that time.

I have my new x-rays and the plan is to discuss in detail with the surgeon in the morning when we arrive...let him review x-rays...physically check her out...and make the final decision.

I feel like I am between a rock and a hard place......wanting to delay in case she gets better...because who wants their dog going for surgery compromised...but if I delay...things may only be worse...

Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers as we make these difficult decisions.

Mary Ann, we are with you. It is good to share your burden with us, that is what friends are for, here in the good, bad and in between.

I understand your feelings and if your Vets are confident in the Vet who is doing the surgery then I think you need to be able to trust him also. I like that he is a caring Vet, I am sure he won't want to operate on her if he feels she can't handle it. Good Vets are hard to find, many times the $$ signs cloud their judgment, it sounds like you have a good one.

I elected to have surgery done on my St.Bernard mix for a spleen torsion, which he didn't tell me he was in pain until it was the size of a baskeball, normally the size of a fist. My Vet said it would be touch and go. Well he lost the big fella 3 times on the table and did open heart massage to get him going again. He survived and flourished for several years after that. Doc said he had a very strong will to live, I believe Cheyenne has the Very Strong Will to live also. She isn't ready to leave you yet.

You know we are here for you. My gut says if the Vet thinks she will make it through the surgery then I would go for it. Sending Healing vibes to Cheyenne.

Thank you Val! You can't imagine how this has been playing on my mind. I need to let it go...and let the surgeon make this decision...because it's making me crazy...and they know better than me...

I just called the surgeon and it's been arranged that I will be meeting with him to discuss when we arrive tomorrow morning. EXHALE......
