awwww...YES CLEO!! I love that sweetie!! I am so glad she continues to do well!! These animals are so amazing!

Yes...time to go Easter Bonnet shopping...and to think she will look so much better this year...who would have thought she would continue to get BETTER!

Please excuse my lack of updates..as we are dealing with some issues here. A series of meeting have been held lately..and yesterday we delt with the devastating news that the Bishop is shutting down our school. It will be basically disenfranchising many families from a Catholic education. Everyone is devastated...lots of crying in the school today...teachers, families, children. We are trying to cope and console our children..and make some very difficult decisions for the future. A series of meetings will be held this week...but it is a done deal. Praying for the right answers and what is best for my children. They are so heartbroken...we are as well..and it's a very difficult time.

Back to Cheyenne...still keeping her in forefront...so that others are inspired by her story. These beautiful old souls bring so much joy and give back so much...and there are miracles to be had. Cheyenne, Cleo, Mila, Sherman and so many others are a true testament to that. Love you all!

What the heck? Not sure if we have two issues...or one...

We have about 3 brown spots...looking at the skin I don't really see any skin issue in these areas...

then she also had a huge scab on her back (not in an area she can lick or chew at) and when the scab came off...it took a huge patch of fur with it. Could this be a...a....cyst? boil? ugh...what?

Was it an abscess that burst?

Ruth...that was my initial thoughts. It's in an area that she cannot chew or bite at. I first noticed this when I was betting her and felt a large "bump" under her fur. When I parted her fur...I saw this large scab...about the size of a quarter. I just didn't bother it...and yesterday it came off...taking the fur with it. So...to bleed/ooze/scab on it's own...I just assumed abscess.

But someone had to mention ringworm...so now I'm all heebie jeebie over this...lol

and those brown patches...wondering now if all these areas tie together or are separate issues

When I examine the skin in those brown fur areas..eh..the skin may look slightly scaley/dry? nothing major. So again...ringworm??? EEK or just irritated skin that she constantly chews at...turning the fur this color.

sigh...I wasn't that concerned..since we've battled skin issues, allergies, staph all along...but now...I'm freaked out...that my house is contaminated with creeping crud or something...LOL

as long as it's not ringworm...I can deal with anything else. I just don't want to overreact and run to the vet as we practically live there as it is.

I don't know anything about ringworm but the hole in the middle and damaged skin look like an abscess to me. Basu used to get them all of the time, often right in that spot on the back.

Do you have any calendula cream? That always healed things up very quickly.

ETA: I don't know how to explain the other spots except to say that she has a history of skin problems and it's spring now...a wet, moldy spring at that!

Whew! I feel better...I was starting to feel itchy...lol. My gut thought abscess too...I'll get some calendula cream today...THANK YOU SO MUCH.

Does anyone know if constant chewing on a white dog can discolor the fur? Maybe that is the explaination on the other spots...

You can try the black light test for ringworm and see if it glows. It's not really conclusive though because not all ringworm glows, so it won't completely eliminate ringworm as a possibility if it doesn't glow. But if it does glow a bright green it's a pretty good indication that there is ringworm.

Yes, saliva can stain fur. You see it a lot on little white fluffy dogs who chew on their feet.

Kailor is white and right now has staining under both eyes (because she's having an allergy flare-up). When she starts chewing herself she turns a similar color to Cheyenne's spots.
