Hi Lisa,

I'm so sorry. Sending positive energy to you, Indy and Max. Having been there before with my animals I understand how upset you are about the vet visit. Try to let your anger go now and concentrate on loving Indy. hugging

I am so sorry - something I wish I would have done better/more is to sit quietly with them - I was so busy trying to do, I lost that they just like to be. The whole pack sends thoughts of peace to you both.

I hope that diagnosis was wrong - the way you described it, the vet seemed to just want you to continue testing Indy rather than to try other avenues to help alleviate any of her symptoms and also disregarded your comments - it is very disheartening when you go a fair distance for help.

Sincere best wishes- I am thinking of you both (and Max). (((((hugs)))))

OH Lisa. I don't know what to say. Sending you hugs and more hugs.

If you think an Ultra Sound would help you find out what is wrong with Indy, check if there are any Reproduction Specialist Vets in your area. Call them and ask if they could do an UltraSound for you. They all have machines and are skilled at using them.

I would be like you, livid with the mr1 drug, if they weren't sure what they were doing they should have asked first. Owners with mr1 dogs I think know more what is on the BAD list than Vets do.

Sending more hugs and support.

Lisa, I am so sorry. I cannot believe the vet gave that drug full strength to an MDR1 dog - really is beyond my comprehension. I'm glad you brought her home where she will get the best care possible. I just don't know what to say. I'm heartbroken to hear this latest news. My thoughts are with you all and I'm beaming tons of healing vibes to Indy... hugging

I'm so sorry to hear about your bad experience at Davis, Lisa. That's awful that they didn't do anything to help with her gagging problems. I also agree with Kathy that how can they be sure it is a brain tumor and not something else? When we went to Davis with Sheba many years ago, we found out that she DID have a brain tumor, but she was also having grand mal seizures, which was a big indication that this might be the case. I mean, it COULD be a brain tumor, but until they do the MRI, they don't know for sure, so could it possibly be something else? Maybe the blood tests will reveal something.

My prayers are with you that Indy will get through this and have many more years with you. I'm so sorry that she (and you) are going through this. It's a helpless and heartbreaking feeling. Take care and know that many people are thinking of you all and hoping for the best. hugging

Lisa,

You know much better than I what Indy needs right now and we all know that you will provide it, you always have. As usual, Indy is trusting you to take care of her and you will. I wish to heaven there was something better to say to you, but you have my fervent best wishes for peace for both of you.

She finally stopped gagging about 6 am this morning. She had small rests in there, but not much. I wasn't able to get her homeopathic remedy in her yesterday, she gagged them out. How sensitive was she that she gagged out the little homeopathic pill???? This morning I dissolved it in water and syringed it in her.

Poor thing, she is exhausted. I made her a liquid bowl of whey and crushed liver treat and a few things. She has had a good bit of it, though it is making her kinda gaggy. I started this post about 30 minutes ago probably, and she is still holding it down, which is an accomplishment. It's the side effects of this gag relfex right now that will have the greatest impact on how long she is here.

I had called the other ER place in town about doing an ultrasound on my way home from Davis, but honestly, I'm not sure she could get through it. I did some googling this morning. Not much, but apparently the gag reflex is associated with the brain stem area. She also had a bowel movement this morning sorta. So I'm thinking that an ultrasound won't yield much, and may take quite a toll.

She is about one of the toughest individuals I know, including people. She has been through so much. I just want to give her a fighting chance. I understand that she may not be here next week, but I just want her to have more of a say in it. We will hang out today, spend some time sitting in the yard.

Lisa, you know how much Indy can handle. I am glad that you are having enough clarity of thought to think all these thing through. You will know when Indy can't handle any more and you will be with her. So until that time comes enjoy your time together. Hanging out in the yard sounds like a great thing, the fresh air will be good for both of you.

Sending more hugs.

The blood test might reveal something about the digestion, which she kept discounting. In the rare case if it were Addison's, that would be huge.

She also mentioned several times whether I was keeping her here thinking of me, and not her, and I know what she was saying, but she wasn't hearing me. And no, I am not ready to let her go. I will NEVER EVER EVER be ready to let her go. That will be the hardest thing I will have ever done in my whole entire life. But I think she will tell me if I listen to her. And we still ahve a few stones left unturned, maybe.

I am so glad that she is eating something. I hope she is able to keep it down. Enjoy your precious time with your sweet girl today. I am with Diane; you have truly gone the extra (100) mile(s). She might be one of the toughest individuals you know, but YOU are one of the toughest individuals I know. You guys are a team, and I think it is you that makes her so strong and it is she that makes you so strong. If there is anyone at all who could pull through something like this, it is the two of you!
