It is Nadia. I was looking at her eyes again because I noticed something new that was not there when I was worried about her lipid deposits http://germanshepherdhome.net/forum/ubbt...ange#Post192604
I know this was not there at that time or myself and/or the vet would have seen it.
Worse yet, I will not be able to take a picture of it because she simply will not hold still long enough for me to take one.

So what I am hoping is that those of you with experience with it can post a pic so I can see what your dogs Pannus looked like. When I googled it, I read something about a pink film on the cornea, but that is not what Nadia has. She has more of a spot outside of the color portion of her eye-not bloodshot looking, but more like the color is expanding into the white of her eye. Does that sound like Pannus? So wishing I could get a picture of it!!

Got a pic. was scared to use flash-didn't want to blind her with it.

Not a very good shot either. You can also see her lipid deposits a bit in that pic.

The bathroom light reflected badly, right into the area I wanted to show. That was the only way to get the picture though-take her in the bathroom and shut the door, pry her eye open and point and click...fast!

Really hope this is nothing and just the normal aging of an eye! Will be checking.

Hard to say, looks like Kayos' eyes tho. Need to vet check to be certain. Kayos' Pannus makes her eyes red too. There are different types of Pannus.

I see Skye's more on the inside corners. Bright red, Brownish grey lumpy dots. I am having a terrible time getting hers back under control.

Right now they are looking bad again. teary

Honestly, if you are concerned at all, I would take her to ta canine ophthalmologist. It is worth it to know for sure and treat right away.

I hope it is not that but if it is, most dogs do fine with treatment.

Doesn't look like pannus to me - looks like normal eye changes -- where the iris tends to bleed into the white on dogs. Pannus is an inflamation of the membrain that expands to cover the eye. I'm not explaining that very well. The Eye Clinic For Animals web page has an illustration that's pretty good. Or they did several years ago.

We had a thread about "leaky eyes" here, didn't we? If that white area gets inflammed, it can cause that discoloration, and it can be a sign of the starting of pannus in some dogs. It can be general inflammation.

I will say, Max's pannus was *not* well controlled on pannus meds at all. When I put him back on doxy, each and every time, dramatic improvement in his eyes. Don't know if that was systemic infection or autoimmune gunk, since doxy helps with and is used for both. The internal med vet said he used doxy all the time to manage inflammation.

Thank you all for the responses. I read the other thread in its entirety and think I am am probably just over reacting...just so hard not to panic, especially since she has lipid deposits already. The area where the color is bleeding does look rough like a course grain of sandpaper, but hey-that could be MY eyes playing tricks on me combined with the fact that she doesn't hold very still ever.

Middle-I understood what you were getting at, and that's what matters smile

I believe that if you start seeing raised, uneven surfaces with the discoloration, then that's inflammation, and you might want to try something like the C-Bright eye drops and see if it helps, and also keep an eye on it. I'm guessing that regular leakage of pigment won't have that granular look to it, which is caused by an increase of white blood cells (I think!), which *could* be the start of something......the good thing is that you are watching closely, and if it progresses, you're on it!
