Can someone explain the numbers?

For example, on pg 38 LINE BREEDING: Monko V Bol 2 -4, Hella v Bol 2-4

In linebreeding number before the dash refers to sire's pedigree, number after the dash refers to the dam's pedigree.

So 2-4 Monko means that Monko appears in the 2nd generation back on the sire's side and 4th generation back on the dam's side. So Monko is the grandparent through the sire, and great-great-grandparent through the dam.

Seems like a basic thing to know if you are going to look at pedigrees, but as
they say, the only dumb question is one ya don't ask! I'm guessing someone else
will have learned something too.

I hvae the best education reading this. It has been great tracing all the pedigrees adn reading the significance of some of the dogs. I have traced several pedigrees of dogs I know all the way back to some of the pillars.

Very interesting reading.
