It appears that the problem of Jerky Treats made in China continues, and continues to be fatal. There are probably many that don't know about this, people that you might see buying them in pet stores, etc.

Oh CRAP!!! I don't buy this stuff but will pass the word. I think the Chinese are doing this on purpose.

I had posted on another thread about a friend of mine and her dog Jack. After reading my warning on facebook she realized this was probably what had been making Jack so sick on and off for months, getting steadily worse.

He is doing better with treatment but still not not 100%. She wrote a very good letter to our local paper and mentioned that Ohio Senator Sherrod Brown was taking the FDA to task over the delays taking care of this growing problem.

The paper contacted the senator for verification of his part and the next thing you know - she heard from DC. Senator Brown is doing a news conference Sunday in Columbus at a rescue. My friend and Jack have been invited to speak to the news people there.

Should be in the Columbus, Springfield and Dayton papers at the very lest and on Columbus news.

I am so proud that she has taken these extra steps to help not just Jack, but other pets.

I am so sorry it too late for some.

We should not allow these products into the country.

Also google news today about food products containing brown rice syrup - everything from baby formula to energy bars - it tells us to 'be careful' not to eat too many products with this ingredient because the syrup has arsenic in it. Be careful? Throw them out!

This is not news. I try to avoid most animal treats that are not made in the U.S. or Canada or Europe.

What is news is that before dogs were just getting kinda sick. They are dying, and worse yet, no one is doing anything about it.

Because they are lethal, and so many don't know, news really needs to get out. Bonnie, great to hear about the news conference.

How these companies, countries, whatever, can do this without consequence is just wrong.

Middle - it may not be news to you, but you would be surprised to know how many people still don't get it or have not heard.

When these treats and others are displayed predominantly in their favorite store, they believe they are safe.

So the point is not that YOU (and probably most of us here) don't buy treats made in China, it it that the treats made in China should not be sold here at all. Everyone needs to get on the bandwagon to spread the word to those who do not know of the dangers. And to let the FDA know this will not be tolerated.

Unfortunatley, I think it goes beyond the FDA - more than the one agency needs to know it won't be tolerated.

And from a little of what I've read - you may not know if any of the ingredients in a given treat has been sourced from elsewhere.

I about ready to start making my own jerky again and even making other dog treats rather than buying anything.

So, wait....there is contaminated dog food besides the treats? Do we know what dog food specifically?
