It is a shame that Westminster Kennel Club only wants happy pretty dog commercials.

On the other hand I think it is sad that as a society advertising has to be so much in your face to get our attention. I would like to see X shelter dog at shelter then a nice little follow up.

I dislike what I call shock advertising, but it seems to work. Example, I get an email that says the Internet is dead to marketeers, Yep some guy that wants to shock you into purchasing he tried and true method for making money online. Same guy I got an email.... "Email Marketing is DEAD", ok if that is true, why are you sending me an email.

IMHO this continues to prove that Westminster is decades behind the times in many ways! Maybe that's why AKC doesn't highlight it as their premiere show of the year any longer.

Last i heard, Westminster is an all male club, no ladies allowed to join, but women are allowed to work their tails off for the show!

I wish women owners, handlers, judges, spectators would boycott it one year, no bitches entered, they want an all male club, then let them have an all male show! Of course, all the owners of any adopted dogs would also join in my dream boycott!

Gayle, A boycott would be a great idea. However, I doubt that the people with the pedigree dogs would want to chance missing out on a years worth of profits from the pretesge that the show would bring their bitches. Too bad!

Val, What a wonderful Idea! Show the sad eyed pup in the pound then switch to a happy healthy found-a-home story.

I know when I go out with my three, people fawn over Loki because he's a big black shepherd. When I tell them his story of how we rescued him, they look at him in a whole new way. "Why would anyone want to kill such a sweet boy?" is a question I'm asked alot.
I try to make Loki an ambassedor for shelter dogs everywhere. If we have saved one dog then we've done well.

Maybe there should be a protest outside next year. Rescues and bitches on parade. Even an internet protest would be good. Some thing to think about. I have no allegiance with AKC or Westminster.

Right now I need to get all my tax stuff together, seems that my brain went on break from June until November, so I have a bit of a mess. But something to keep in mind.

That is a shame. I thought it was nice for Pedigree to support the shelter dogs along with the purebreds/pedigreed dogs.

If Risa and I still lived in Connecticut, we could go down there and stand outside the Garden to support shelter mutts. Except I think NYC would be way too busy for her to feel comfortable. Still, rescued shelter mutt with AKC titles says a lot for those lonely homeless pups.

akc will sure take your money to PAL your "mutts":( guess it's still about money
