This is Boston PD K9 Ajax. He is by far my favorite police dog that boards at the kennel I work at.

The PD boards their dogs in a public Kennel? Didn't know that. Surprising, given the very expensive investment Police Departments make when they acquire a K-9. He is a cutie

Where else are they supposed to keep them?

My boss has a contract with the department. The officers don't have to pay out of pocket, the department takes care of the bill. My boss is a retired K9 officer, he breeds, trains, and sells GSDs so he's not your average Joe dog kennel owner.

I don't know LOL. I figured they had their own kennels. Also for security reasons because a dog like that could be a trophy for somebody with mal intent. Lots of weirdos out there. So it would make sense if they had their own facilities..just like the military K-9s have. You would never see a military K-9 in a public kennel for the same reasons. Our K-9 officers have their other K-9 buddies take care of their dogs when they are on vacation. So, that would be another option. Anyway, it just surprised me.

Edit: Ok, Kelly, THAT makes sense. He is one of THEM and not just somebody who is not linked to the PD in one way or another.

My friend who is an officer boards his dog at their vet office. They know him, his temperament, etc. He's very happy when he's there!

He is a CUTIE! My gosh, what a loveable boy.
