Has anyone used this? How well does it lesson the impact if the dog lunges or tries to go the wrong direction?

Did it have a long learning curve or was it somewhat easy to master?

It works really well with the dog going sideways and forward or if they stop. It doesn't work too well if they try to shoot behind the bike after a squirrel. I have used a Springer since the early 90's and it is great with 90# Donovan who I could never bike otherwise. I have only had one accident once in all these years and it is when Deja tried to go behind me after a squirrel. Centrifugal force spun me and the bike around. I never had issues with my older bike, but my new bike is much lighter and I have to attach the bracket for the Springer higher up.

Yep - helmet, shoulder pads, knee pads, mouthpiece, faceguard...

I have used a springer with Tooz. She already had a "with me" command so she trotted right along with out lunging. I can see where something like what Lisa describes could happen.

Followed by EMS and a great insurance policy.
