Sounds like you have a great vet - very comforting, especially in times like these.

Well, the tube is still draining some. My vet can't take it out until it stops. She is back from vacation tomorrow so I have to call her in the morning and talk to her about it. I have been talking to the tech and she has been letting my vet know what has been going on all week. Where the tube comes in and out of the body is starting to look sore as it has been in there so long.
He and I are both getting very tired of it. I have to flush it 2 times a day so he has to lay on his side patiently while I clean it and flush it with sterile water and wrap him back up. I really hope this drainage stops soon. It has stopped considerably but there is still some there.
I am just glad he is such a sweet and loving boy, and I make sure and give plenty of treats after each session.

Cathy, you are being such a wonderful Mom to Cash! Sweetie-boy Cash probably looks forward to the times together with you administering to him, even if he doesn't enjoy the tube or the flushing itself. Waiting and wondering, worrying for when the drainage will end, this must be so stressful for you! hugging I am hoping that your vet will offer some insight soon, and that Cash's tube can be removed soon. Thinking good thoughts for you and Mr. Cash today!

Thanks. He is on Cephalexin antibiotic and was on a low dose of Rimadyl but he started throwing up his dog food a while after he ate it, so we stopped that and he hasn't vomited since. He does not act sick at all.
I just wonder what is causing this, and also would an MRI show anything if is was small like a splinter of wood? Just wondering.

I don't know about the MRI...can't remember, but did they do xrays? I would think yes?

Considering when this started, if "whatever" it was is no longer there, I wonder if it should have stopped draining by now, or if this is on a normal time schedule. Hopefully your vet will know!
