Good grief!! Could have sworn that the Groundhog just saw his shadow yesterday. Yet today, both of my dogs are blowing coat.

I didn't notice it so bad but just cleaned living room and put down clean blankets to protect the carpet(not that it works so great) and as I was out in the laundry room I saw what looked like a big ol' patch of loose hair on Nadia.

So I grabbed the brush, and was just going to get that one spot. Two hours later, and what feels like lot of fine hair inhaled(HATE that feeling) both dogs are brushed out and all the hair flying around out on the patio has been vacuumed up.

Are YOUR dogs blowing coat already?

Eden is!!! I can pluck her like a chicken...she sheds worse than any dog I've ever had (Labs and Shepherds)!

We have been blowing coat for a few weeks now. It has been unseasonably warm too.

Not yet. Yukon did not grow a very thick winter coat this year. Probably has to do with the mild temperatures. So I think his shedding won't be too bad.crossedfingers

Fur stuck in the back of your throat is an awful feeling. I made the mistake many times of yawning while brushing Yukon. *inhale* *cough* *gag* Hairball alert!

We are blowing coat here too. I have to vaccuum at least 2-3 times a day to keep up with all that hair!!

(Thankfully they are not all blowing coat at the same time! Kona did a few months back; now it is Tosca's and Iorek's turn. Kamahi, Lexi, and Charlie haven't blown coat yet, but I am expecting it will be soon.)

My dogs never even got a winter coat to blow. It has been so mild with up and down temps, not sure they will get one.

Not blowing coats yet over here but I'm not sure they got a full winter coat this year. It's been a pretty mild winter.

Funny - that is what I say about Skye. Crazy weather, cold a couple of days then 40s and 50s.

Skye looks terrible and she does not enjoy being brushed, just puts up with it.

I pluck hair as much as possible, then give her a fast brush over.

There is something satisfying about plucking butt tufties.

My two fight over who gets brushed first. Zisso loves it as long as I don't get too 'personal' LOL He does not like me looking down there for mats. Nadia loves it more though. I always start out brushing Z first because he comes right to me when he sees the brush, then Nadia comes and pushes him away. There have been times I have had to put one in the kennel to get the job done. Nadia will lay there forever if I am brushing her, and accommodates me by rolling over now and then too.

But her undercoat is soooo fine. That's the stuff I seem to inhale. And wear. Doesn't matter what I am wearing, it develops instant static cling when it comes to that fine undercoat. After all my hard work, apparently I missed the tuft on her butt that got me started in the 1st place!!

rofl I agree! When I used to take Moo to the park a regular had a Malamute and he would laugh at me cos I would pluck away to my hearts content!

Molly never blew her coat at the start of summer, the weather here is so weird all year round.

A couple weeks ago, I was taking Tooz out for a walk in the park and asked my Mom if she wanted to come along. She said no because, "Tooz is too scruffy and I cannot be seen in public with her." rofl For awhile there, Tooz did indeed look homeless! I have used the self wash station at the local training place twice just to try to get the hair out of her. Tooz no longer looks "scruffy" but she is practically bald now! Her undercoat is gone and the soft fuzz is growing in but now the long guard hairs are coming out. All of her huggable plushiness is gone and she looks like a smooth coated shepherd.

Is it over yet?!?! impatient
