Mars is stable (I think)

You know I am not an experienced dog person. Some of you also know that my little experience was gained with a very shy, very wonderful dog now residing above us.
Fast forward to new adopted dog, Mars, who is less than 2 and seems to be confident in different situations. We walk on our quiet streets with lots of trees (good) and not many street lights (good and bad). Our regular walks go down a dark, lonely road with filtered light from the moon. A few days ago, a tiny light appeared-a man walking from the train (the path I take) with a pin light. Mars ears went up and back straightened, I told him it was a person with a light, and that was that. Tonight again, same place, half-moon, something in the darkness and my big sweet boy with ears up looking where I couldn't see. I asked him what he saw and then I could just see a man approaching out of the shadows. I asked for a sit and Mars complied. The man passed us and I reassured Mars it was just a person. Nice of the man not to worry about a GSD in the dark, I suppose.
Mars is a good dog, I think.

Sweet, gentle Mars, trusting his new furever friend. You did all the right things, handled the situation with good sense for Mars. May your walks enrich your growing bond. So much trust and love there. Stable Mars-- sweet, dear Mars. Such a precious spirit your darling Wolf chose to blossom under your loving care. May all your walks, past people, shadows, lights and trees, bring you both love and peace.
