Have you checked local retailers? I got my Precision crate at PetCo (or was it Pet Supplies Plus?). No shipping cost if you pick them up in person.

Tractor supply has the best prices for wire crates. I asked my local mom & pop shop to order my 500 vari-kennel and they matched the internet price. Didn't have to pay for shipping either.
Though when I needed to up it to the 700 I overpaid at Petco.

I looked at Ranch and Home the other day and they didn't have a lot of variety. I have taken Saber in there tons smile They are next to Shopko in the old Costco building.

The Precision and the Midwest had free shipping. The Midwest also dropped in price a couple bucks last night. I went ahead and ordered that one. I have no idea how trialing will go or how much use this thing will get; I use the VariKennel in my SUV from crating during tracking. I think next year when she is more mature I will try to train her in a soft crate. I might be able to find one on CL for cheap to try. I will let you guys know how I like it! Thanks for all the input smile

Shawn check the wire gauge. My Precision suitcase crate is the strongest of all my crates. My cheap Midwest ones are the worst, the wires are like half as thick and the dogs can bend the doors. I can stand on my Precision crate and I've actually use it for climbing up/down from a loft for several weeks. I'm actually surprised the Precision is the lightest weight. Mine is not very lightweight (but since it's a 36" it's not that heavy) and I use a small dolly at shows so I can easily roll all my stuff around.

Lies do you know if your Midwest is an iCrate or a Lifestages? I went with this one because the club bought some and they seem sturdy. I know the iCrates are cheap/flimsy and thinner wire. The LifeStages is the heavier gauge wire. I wish the ads were clearer on wire gauge on all of them. I had to dig for info.
