I purposely did not watch the show. I find the idea of spending money to clone a pet not only self serving and wasteful, but disrespectful.
Our uniqueness, our pets uniqueness is part of what make us special. Now they are supposedly a dime a dozen? OK - $50,000 each?
I know grief. It could not be resolved with a clone. Indeed, the idea of a 'replacement clone' is abhorrent to me.
Some people have to many issues and too much money.

Watching this on TLC now. Well, actually flipping between two shows... Which other show were you watching? I was flipping from the clones to "American Stuffers" on Animal Planet...equally as disturbing in my opinion. I found myself yelling "but that's not Trouble/Wolfie/Blue" at the tv set more than once. I shouldn't judge others. I totally understand and deeply feel their grief. I have always joke that I would like to clone Tooz only to go back and fix the things I screwed up. I wish she had a reset button because she could have been so much more if not for handler inexperience and error! As they say, "you only get one Novice A dog" and I will be forever in her debt for her lessons and showing me the way. As I watched the show, Tooz slept at my feet and the cats all piled on my lap. I told one of the cats that I would never clone her because "there is only one Joplin" and damned if she didn't stop purring and give me a dirty look! What do you think that means? Should I start saving up the $50k now???

Lol, you better start saving! I would love to have a reset button - I made a lot of mistakes with Indy when she was young I was actually watching Criminal Minds. I didn't finish the cloning show, so never saw if they were successful (guess they were!). American Stuffers - now that's creepy indy was here for awhile after she died, until I was ready to take her in my neighbor and her dog came to say goodbye before we left. But the process of all life, and all warmth, as the body changes, a final leaving of all remnants of life and soul, the cold emptiness of the hardened shell, I can't imagine having that forever in my house. Where you want to give them a hug, and there is no warmth, no breath, no proper smell...I guess I probably wouldn't recoil so much had I not been through that.

I am glad to hear that I am not the only person who brings their body home. When Joplin was only a year or so old, I had a ferret named Rocky. He was such a fun little dude! Joplin worshiped him. She followed him around and loved to sleep with him in the laundry basket. When I had to have Rocky put down at age 7, I didn't bring his body home. Joplin searched and searched endlessly for him and it broke my heart. There was no way to console her or to explain that he was gone. After that, I vowed to always give them the chance to say goodbye and to know what happened to their friend. All of my pets react differently to seeing their friend's lifeless body but I do feel it helps them to heal. Sometimes I see them walking around and checking out the favorite sleeping spots but I don't hear them cry and call into the night any more.

Does anyone know why Blue's owner was in prison? I missed that part.

Besides, we all know identical twins who are anything but. Genetically, they are natural clones. But they're not the same person! Why would anyone think it would be any different with our pets?
What a great example!

As they say, "you only get one Novice A dog" and I will be forever in her debt for her lessons and showing me the way. I can totally relate to that. I often wish I had Risa as a puppy so that she could have been a more confident, well-rounded dog. But, then again, she still would have been dog #1 and I probably would have still messed her up. After all, it's only been through working with her and learning as I go that I've become a better trainer. Even so, I wouldn't clone her to see if I could do that. She's a unique individual and I value her more knowing that I will only ever get one Risa in my lifetime.
